District to dedicate hs/ms complex Saturday By DON RUTLEDGE FPS Staff Writer The public is invited to attend a Community Open House and the celebration and dedication of the new beautiful Carrollton middle/high school this Saturday, Aug. 3. The dedication and ribbon-cutting will be held during a 10 a.m. ceremony, preceded by a half hour of music provided by the Carrollton High School band under the direction of David Dickerhoof, starting at 9:30 a.m. Although all the free tickets for the seating in the Performing Arts Center are gone, residents may still feel part of the event by watching the ceremony in the new school’s commons near the main entrance or watch on Facebook Live on the school’s Facebook page or the district website, www.carrollton.k12.oh.us. The 10 a.m. dedication program will include a Welcome by Carrollton Schools Supt. Dr. David Quattrochi, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and CHS Alma Mater led by the Carrollton High School Chamber choir under the direction of Mindy Domer. The invocation will be given by Jonathan Naylor, Youth Minister at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, followed by remarks by Mrs. Rose Seck, president of the Carrollton Board of Education. Following the dedication, the community is invited to enjoy guided and self-guided tours of the new school
from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours will start in the commons at the main entrance of the building. School representatives will provide tours of 10-15 people at a time through the new school. For those who want to take their time, self-guided tours are also available with school representatives posted throughout the building to answer questions. Carrollton’s new Middle School/ High School is located at 205 Scio Rd. SW (SR 332), just south of Carrollton.
CHS band to give preview Friday, Aug. 3, at 4 p.m. A preview performance of the pregame and first show of the football season will be presented at 4 p.m. this Friday (Aug. 3), by the Carrollton High School Warrior Marching band at Community Field. Led by Head Band Director David Dickerhoof, the 70 members are
attending the annual band camp at Cedar Lakes Camp in Ripley, WV, this week. Assistant Band Directors are Jordan Provost and Lorie Strader. Makaela Bennett is the danceline instructor, Allie Bennett serves as the twirling instructor and Nick Kopko is the percussion instructor.

Sherrodsville Homecoming was held Saturday, July 27, with the parade stepping off festivities at 6 p.m Participants in the parade were judged by former mayors Jim Gardner and Kenny Moffat. Guest host John Miley served as the third judge. Best Pumper 1000GPM and Under award was given to Dellroy Volunteer Fire Department. Best pumper 1000GPM and Over award was given to Fairfield Fire Department. Speedy Drilling captured the Best Antique Auto category. Bowerston Volunteer Fire Department won the Best Ambulance prize. The best float was awarded to United Bank of Sherrodsville. The event was sponsored by the Sherrodsville Volunteer Fire Department. Several games were set up for the young ones and included a bouncy house. Residents enjoyed the sandwiches and other goodies that were served and enjoyed listening to the band, Subject to Change.
