Cobblestone Inn set to open By NANCY SCHAAR FPS Correspondent The Cobblestone Inn at Bluebird Park Farm will be open and serving delicious meals in a tranquil, historic setting. The restaurant is owned by Lisa Stansbury and will open for business April 16 to April 28 on a reservation only basis. Lisa is very well known throughout the area as the owner/operator of the Airport Restaurant located at the Carroll County Airport. The Airport Restaurant is known for the wonderful homemade pies made by Lisa. She will continue to manage the Airport Restaurant and will still serve homemade, family style foods as well as their famous deserts. The Cobblestone Inn is named for the cobblestones that are in the lower level that surround the original fireplace. Fairy lights and many copper kitchen antiques on the mantle reflect the golden light. The walls show historical photos from around the county during the turn of the century. The farm was originally owned by Christian Kintner who was a son of German immigrants and was born in 1784 in Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Elizabeth, came in a covered wagon to Ohio in 1816. From a government land grant, they purchased the old farm for $5 an acre. The original log cabin had a clapboard roof. This is before Carrollton, first called Centreville, was established. The farm was owned by the LePine family from 1943 to 1964. Richard and Joyce Hannon bought 55 acres of the farm in 1972. They lived there until 1987. In 1989 Joyce established the Bluebird Tea Room. During the next ten years, several old barns from before the Civil War were restored and became separate attractions at Bluebird. They were turned into a private residence, Susie’s Museum of Childhood, Hannon Hall and Joyce’s Garden Party Room. The Bluebird Farm Amphitheater was constructed in 2003 and included stairs and roads for access to the amphitheater. Hannon’s held a grand opening in May of 2007 and in 2008 Joyce Hannon donated the Bluebird Farm Park to the Carroll County Park District. The property is taken care of by the Carroll County Park District board. Lisa and her husband, Harry Stansbury, began work at the Bluebird February 1, 2019. Meals will be served at both the upper and lower porches, the main dining room and in the history room. “It needed a lot of cleaning. It had been empty for a long time and we did a lot of heavy cleaning,” said Lisa. It took a lot of cleaning to restore the original cobblestone fireplace in the lower level, according to Harry Stansbury. They have done much more than

just clean. They have updated electrical components, plumbing, and the main floor of the restaurant is 100% handicapped accessible from the upper parking lot, which is reserved for handicapped accessible vehicles. There are ramps and railings in place to assist those that need a hand. Both agreed that they have painted every inch that had paint, leaving a clean, fresh look to the inn. Serving as chef for The Cobblestone Inn will be Murray Williams, who was the chef at Knickers and at the McKinley Grand in Canton. Murray Williams III brings many years of chef experience with him. He began cooking with his father when he was just a kid. Murray Williams II was trained at Le Cordon Bleu. “I handled between 400 to 500 weddings and other special events each year at McKinley Grand,” said Murray. He also catered hundreds of special events for the Hall of Fame festivities each year. Murray was born in Kilgore and is glad to be closer to home and is excited about the plans for The Cobblestone Inn. Featured will be pasta, steak, seafood and chops. “I am dedicated to making this a success. I want to give our guests a high quality dinner at a fair price in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Murray. Hours are scheduled for Sunday, Tues-

day and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday they will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Extended hours will be made available this summer. “We will serve one special a day, a catch of the day fish, crab or other seafood. We’ll also add prime rib as we get more established,” said Ashlee McCort Williams, daughter of Lisa Stansbury and wife to Murray Williams. Ashlee will be managing The Cobblestone Inn. One item featured on the dessert menu is homemade baked cheesecake. After sampling this desert, I can promise that you will not have just one piece. You will be coming back for more. All pies will be made from scratch just as they at the Airport Restaurant. They will feature chocolate, peanut butter and pecan pies, as well as homemade tapioca and other specialties. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan meals will also be available. Children will enjoy the items offered on their special menu, which of course includes sliders and chicken nuggets. Lisa has purchased and installed new equipment including new freezers, ice machine, refrigerators, deep fryer, toaster oven and Panini grill. Harry said the park board has been wonderful. Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams sadly announced April 6 that they lost very special K-9 Deputy Oz. “It is with heavy hearts we report we have lost one of our own, retired K-9 Deputy Oz,” said Williams. Deputy Oz had a very successful career with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. He has been enjoying his retirement since June of 2016. Oz was a great teacher to his younger brother, K-9 Otis. Deputy Shane Beohm was the partner, dad and best friend of Deputy Oz. “Today we say goodbye. You entered our lives 12 ½ years ago and created an immediate bond. You were courageous, fearless and displayed sound
nerves. I admire your character and I’m most thankful for all of your accomplishments on the road. You made me a better deputy due to your resolve. This hurts. Rest easy my friend,” stated Beohm. Williams wanted to make sure county residents knew that not only did Oz excel at all of his duties, he was also responsible for the tracking and reprehending of murder suspect Wesley “Butch” Clark in 2015 during a multi-county manhunt. The Sheriff and members of the sheriff’s department extend their sympathies and appreciation to Deputy Beohm. “Thank you for your service Deputy Oz. We salute you,” said Williams.
