How to wander wisely!

With six National Parks, ancient Gondwana rainforests, magnificent waterfalls, spectacular mountain ranges, and serene lakes, the Scenic Rim stands as a testament to nature’s unparalleled beauty. We believe in wandering wisely and treading lightly, and we’d love you to as well!

HERE’S HOW:

• Stay in eco-friendly accommodation—visit visitscenicrim.com.au for more information.

• Consume mindfully. Wandering wisely also means supporting local businesses—buying and eating locally which is what Eat Local Month is all about!

• Tread responsibility. It’s a privilege and true adventure to experience the incredible ancient rainforests, waterfalls, lakes, and mountains of the region, but please be the region’s eco-guardian angel at the same time—stick to designated tracks and trails to avoid damaging vegetation, causing erosion, or disturbing wildlife.

• Bring your own reusable water bottles, bags, and utensils to avoid single-use plastics.

• Recharge your electric vehicle at over a dozen EV charging sites across the region. From Tamborine Mountain to Beaudesert, Mount Barney to Boonah, Plugshare shows where you can charge up in the Scenic Rim.

• Choose to walk or bike when exploring, and share transport when possible to cut your carbon footprint, help ease congestion and save energy and money. On the opening weekend take the Tamborine Mountain Hop-on-Hop-off tour with Pineapple Tours to get around the events and attractions.

• If you’re flying into Brisbane or the Gold Coast before heading into the Scenic Rim, offset your flight’s carbon emissions by contributing to environmental projects.

• Be mindful of water usage by taking shorter showers and reusing towels. Turn off lights, air conditioning, and electronics when they’re not in use, and choose accommodation that prioritises renewable energy.

• The Scenic Rim offers a range of recycling options— look for the special Containers for Change collection bins on the main streets of Beaudesert, Canungra, Tamborine Mountain and Boonah.

Thank you for wandering wisely and ensuring our local communities and natural environment is here for generations to come.
