Devon Island is the largest uninhabited island on the planet, home to remnants of the Thule settlement dating back to 1000 AD, and a focus of the research community. With land that remains frozen for almost the entire year, dominated by frost shattered rocks and minimal plants and animals, it’s a barren wasteland

that has very similar conditions to the planet Mars.

Also the location of the Haughton impact crater, formed when a meteorite about 2km in diameter crashed into the surface 39 million years ago. Flat top mountains, glacial valleys and a substantial ice caps, Devon Island has a unique beauty. Meals: B.L.D

Day 07 Beechey Island > Prince Leopold Island

Beechey Island was the winter camp of the ill-fated 1845 Franklin Expedition. The final resting place of three of Sir John Franklin’s crew, serving as the base camp for much of the exploration of the Northwest Passage. Prince Leopold Island is home to over 400,000 birds nesting on the small island, with limestone cliffs stretching up to nearly 870 feet tall.

With 244 islands, a host of choices are open for your voyage, with your destination activities being dependant on wildlife and weather conditions. One of the places that we may visit is Isla Ángel de la Guarda, one of the largest islands in the Sea of Cortez that is an uninhabited biological reserve. The calm waters 40

that surround this dry, mountainous island offer the perfect opportunity to kayak and stand-up paddleboard. With white sand, turquoise waters and a rustic back drop, Isla Partida was voted as home to the most beautiful beach in Mexico. We may even get the chance to snorkel with a nearby sea lion colony.
