Discover Eastern Canada

Historic cities, rich culture and beautiful landscapes

A tapestry of fascinating history, rich culture, natural wonders, soaring cities and superb heritage, Eastern Canada is a stark contrast to its more famous west coast neighbour. Being so different in almost every aspect, it is necessary to experience this picturesque land to really get to know all of Canada.

With European heritage stretching back to its inception, it was the French who finally settled this beautiful land. Travelling throughout Eastern Canada, especially in Québec province, you will see, hear and taste the French and European influences everywhere.

Cobbled streets fill the old town with a traditional atmosphere, colourful shop fronts adorn the streets and it’s easy to find a cosy restaurant or pub on a street corner and watch the world go by. Stories of battles, conquests, hardships and successes ripple through the land. Traditions handed down through generations are still evident in daily life, however these sit alongside cutting edge modernity as cities display some of the sleekest boutiques and skyscrapers in the world.

Montréal is an eclectic mix of old and new. Ancient churches sit side by side with modern glass clad buildings while the chic French style of the people is apparent in their cutting edge boutiques, shops and restaurants.

Similarly, Québec City oozes history and tradition. With an attractive and rustic old town comprising a network of pedestrian laneways lined with medieval looking shops, it is a delight to wander.

In contrast, Toronto is a modern metropolis with towering buildings dominating the skyline. Visit CN Tower, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere where the views will astound. Or spend time enjoying the traditional chateau architecture and tulip lined boulevards of Ottawa. As the capital of Canada, it has a remarkably relaxed feel and an amazing array of sights.

Then there are the incredible natural and cultural sights and attractions. Visit a sugar shack in the Québec countryside where you’ll meet a local family and learn about all kinds of maple products. Stand in awe as you watch the immense Niagara Falls thunder down a cliffside spraying a fine mist of water into the air. If visiting in autumn, see the spectacle of changing colours across the countryside. Trees transform into canvases and splash reds, oranges and yellows across the land in a magnificent show of nature.

With such incredible variety and depth, Eastern Canada is alive with a natural vibrancy. Be sure not to miss this significant other half of Canada and find out the complete story of this fabulous nation.
