IN NEW ORLEANS

Nothing makes me happier than traveling the globe. I am most comfortable when completely out of my natural New York City habitat. Getting seriously lost in a Mumbai market, stumbling on the coolest sneaker store in Tokyo, trying to find vintage Persols in Cairo—all of these moments have been memorable. And I still have the thick-framed 1967

IN GIZA

Persols to remind me how much I adore Egypt. Just recently, I flew to Cape Town, South Africa (see page 40). Nelson Mandela had died that same day, and I chucked my luggage in my room at the One&Only Cape Town and trekked to the Robben Island Museum, which tells the story of Mandela's heroic fight against apartheid and his 18-year imprisonment on Robben Island. After that fast history lesson, I found a busy market, got totally lost, yet found the coolest African fabric with Mandela's smiling face on it. The above photos are my #TBTs (hashtag for Throw Back Travel) from trips to amazing places like China, Denmark and Louisiana. For our travel issue, we sent writers to Colombia, the Philippines and the Dominican Republic. We also had some of our friends, like Donna Karan, menswear designer Todd Snyder, and Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, share their personal photos from trips all over the world. You'll be wanderlusting from pictures of India, Africa, Mexico and beyond. My bags are already packed and in the lobby. Speaking of taking off, our cover guy, 22-year-old actor Logan Lerman, has been jetting around the planet starring in movies with Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt. Lerman, who was photographed by Elias Tahan, in his hometown of Los Angeles, is a star on the rise. In New York, you can be a star of sorts at the over-the-top interactive nightlife extravaganza Queen of the Night. Laura C. Mallonee (who just joined the SCENE team) gives us the rundown on the decadent, glamorous show that makes even Broadway blush. So if you don't have time to book a flight to try Bogotá’s newest hot spot Gordo, reserve a ticket for nonstop party fun at Queen of the Night, which is truly a world-class escape.
