Like the clothing in her Dream Weaver Collection boutique, Joan Morgan is definitely one of a kind. With an eye for color, a flair for timeless fashion, and an understanding of the styles that will flatter her customers, Joan has led Dream Weaver well into its third successful decade on St. Armands Circle. She continues to seek out small American, Canadian, and European designers who stay close to their artistic roots. Joan’s clothing lines are not available elsewhere in Southwest Florida, allowing her customers to create unique looks. Her labels include the highly successful Catherine Bacon, Susan Green Jewelry, and Zonda Nellis, who have been top designers for Dream Weaver for 25 years. Joan recently has been seeking out more European designers like Annette Gortz, who will be in Sarasota for the first time at a Dream Weaver trunk show in November. Gortz’s fashions skim the body and look effortlessly stylish, one of Joan’s criteria for helping customers achieve youthful looks and slim lines. Not one to rest on her laurels, Joan also has been revamping the boutique’s interior with new flooring and displays for a more elegant look and spacious feel. Five years ago, Joan opened Planet, a sister boutique next door to Dream Weaver specializing in clothing designed for a relaxed attitude with sophisticated styling. She originally came to Sarasota when customers of her Martha’s Vineyard boutique kept telling her she should open a store on St. Armands. Now that she’s here full time, Joan loves boating, enjoying the Sarasota Yacht Club, and supporting charities through fundraising weekends and fashion shows. She loves spending time with her family spanning four generations. Her mom, son Eric Seace, owner of Massage Envy, and grandson, Evan, all live nearby. She dotes on her shaggy dogs who spend as much time at Dream Weaver as she does. SCENE
