Training of Museum Volunteer Guides In the year of 2013, SYSNMH trained 111 volunteer guides of two categories – student museum guides and Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS) tourist guides.

Training of Student Museum Guides The SYSNMH team conducted 14 training sessions

SYSNMH Overseas Work Trips Trip to Shanghai Museum of Sun Yat Sen’s Former Residence and Nanjing On August 2, SYSNMH collaborated with the Shanghai Museum of Sun Yat Sen’s Former Residence and organised the “Dr Sun Yat Sen & his Singapore Supporters” exhibition at the museum in Shanghai. Teo Siong Seng, SCCCI’s Immediate Past President and SYSNMH Advisor; Zhong Sheng Jian, SYSNMH Chairman; Kua Bak Lim, SYSNMH Resource Panel Member; Shaun Phua, NHB Deputy Director of Heritage Institutions and SYSNMH General Manager; Angela Ye, SYSNMH Manager; and Dr Tan Teng Phee, SYSNMH Head of Research; attended the exhibition opening ceremony. Dr Tan Teng Phee, Head of Research, SYSNMH, gave a public lecture after the exhibition opening and expounded on the showcase in China of the 165 objects and heritage materials related to Sun

Publications SYSNMH published a total of four books in 2013 comprising the commemorative album Kindred Spirits: Dr Sun Yat Sen, Singapore and Japan, a reprint of Nanyang and the Establishment of the Republic in Chinese, Road To Revolution: Dr Sun Yat Sen and His Comrades in Ipoh in English, and the print and e-book versions of 1911 Revolution: Singapore Pioneers in Bukit Brown in English. The second issue of the SYSNMH newsletter Xin Qing was also published in September.

for a total of 71 students from ITE College West, Yishun Town Secondary School, St Nicholas Girls’ School, Chung Cheng High School and Anderson Secondary School as SYSNMH museum guides.

Training of Professional Tour Guides SYSNMH trained TMIS licensed tour guides catering to overseas tourists from March to June. A total of 40 tour guides attended the training sessions.

Yat Sen’s revolutionary activities in Singapore. The exhibition received a total of 30,943 visitors. In addition, the delegation visited Lim Nee Soon’s tomb in Nanjing. With the assistance of relevant parties in Nanjing, the delegation also discovered additional historical information such as reports on the arrival of Lim Nee Soon’s remains in Nanjing.

The 25th Sun Yat Sen & Song Qing Ling Museums’ International Conference The Sun Yat Sen & Song Qing Ling Museums’ International Conference is an annual conference organised and hosted by various Sun Yat Sen and Song Qing Ling museums in different countries. In 2013, the conference was held at the 1911 Revolution Wuchang Uprising Memorial Hall in Wuhan, China. Shaun Phua, NHB Deputy Director of Heritage Institutions and SYSNMH General Manager, and Dr Tan Teng Phee, SYSNMH Head of Research, attended the conference. In addition, Mr Phua gave a short presentation during the event.

Public Donations and Loans In conjunction with the 111th anniversary of Wan Qing Yuan, SYSNMH initiated an artefact collection drive and secured 85 donated artefacts.
