Designer Marcell Pustul, who splits his time between the German capital and Los Angeles, creates looks that embody Berlin’s typical energy and charm. “Through my designs I want people to express their inner strength,” says Marcell Pustul. Born in Poland in 1987, he early on discovered his great passion for fashion. Only 17, he left for New York to study fashion design at the renowned Parson school, followed by work for various well-known fashion brands. In 2012 he founded his own label MARCELL VON BERLIN. “My absolute key pieces are the power suits we design in different colours each season because suits give you confidence to raise your shoulders. They symbolise power,” explains the designer.
But the core of the brand, which is Berlin, will always be the same. You could see it more as a rich interplay. For me, Berlin and LA have a lot in common. This mix shows in my designs.” Some describe his collections as a mix of modern street style and couture, a bold and progressive look combined with traditional craftsmanship. That Marcel Pustul spends a lot of time in LA should not come as a surprise: the German designer has many fans among the city’s stars. Madonna, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Kris Jenner have all worn his designs.
Today, he splits his time between Berlin and Los Angeles. “The environment I’m in influences my designs,” explains Marcell Pustul. “Right now, it’s LA and it’s West Coast chic.
Thanks to striking prints, the MARCELL VON BERLIN brand is recognisable. “The prints are designed in-house and are therefore unique in the world,” says Marcell Pustul. Combined

with a feminine silhouette, multi-faceted pieces emerge, destined to turn heads. For the recent spring/summer collection, Marcell Pustul was for example inspired by the 1980s, “one of the most eclectic decades in fashion”, as he says.
