The story so far… Back in 2010, we launched our graduate scheme by recruiting just 3 new people, but since then we’ve grown year on year and lightning bolt fast! We’ve taken on some amazing people and it’s fair to say that they’ve made such an incredible difference that we now take on more than 70 graduates and interns (placement year students) every year. We invest really heavily in the development of our graduates and interns – so much so that the majority of interns end up returning to uni with an offer for our graduate scheme and over 80% of all the graduates we’ve recruited are still with us and loving it! Commercial Marketing Graduate Scheme

This scheme puts you right at the forefront, for one of the most recognised brands in the UK. You’ll start with a few weeks in a customer-facing role followed by two twelve-month rotations – one in marketing and one with our commercial team – where you’ll get fantastic exposure across the whole business in areas like Mobile, Broadband, Digital Entertainment and Content. For your marketing rotation, you’ll spend time in an area such as Customer Acquisition, Advertising, Marketing Strategy, or Brand. Within Commercial, you’ll be part of a team that focuses on Commercial Strategy, Acquisition Planning, Revenue Management and ‘Go to Market’ functions. At the end of the scheme we’ll expect your enhanced data and business skills and marketing savvy to mean you’re ready for a managerial role in either our Marketing or Commercial teams.

Corporate Affairs Graduate Scheme

You’ll tackle some challenging work across our four main functions. In Communications and Purpose you’ll help ensure we grow in a way that is good for people and the environment. In Public & Regulatory Affairs you’ll focus on creating and defending a supportive regulatory and political environment. Public and Media Relations will see you build relationships with media and protect our reputation. And finally, within our Regional Affairs team you’ll manage a host of stakeholders to enable Virgin Media’s growth plans.

Engineering Graduate Scheme

Our talented designers, engineers and architects are responsible for game changing products such as our V6 set top box, as well as amazing apps that millions of customers use every day – and, of course, some of the fastest broadband speeds on the planet. Your four six-month rotations will give you experience of a wide range of roles across Virgin Media and the Technology and Innovation division of our international parent company, Liberty Global. You’ll build an in-depth understanding of the multiple technologies that go together to deliver one of the major telecommunication networks in Europe in areas such as video engineering, network design, capacity planning, access technologies, customer equipment and network management systems. We’ll also help you achieve IET Chartered Engineer status (or another appropriate certified body) by the end of the scheme.

Finance Graduate Scheme

Our Finance teams provide critical information and analysis to help the business make smart decisions. This scheme gives you in-depth, hands-on experience in different aspects of Commercial Finance and will turn you into a finance leader of tomorrow. It all happens over three one-year placements, starting with you learning how to develop business relationships. Then you’ll take what you’ve learned and make it work in roles across our wide range of Finance areas such as Accounting Services, Commercial Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Strategy and Commercial Operations. What’s more, we’ll fully fund and support you to help you achieve your CIMA qualification. Together with all the technical, organisational and relationship-building skills you’ve gained, you’ll be well on your way towards a leadership career.

From attracting, training and paying our people, to developing our high-level managers so they’ve got the skills and knowledge they need - you’ll learn about it all in our People team. And, if you’re lucky, you might get the chance to spend some time working with our parent company, Liberty Global, in Amsterdam! Rotating across Talent, Reward, Data Insight and Resourcing, you’ll grow your skills on a range of different projects. You’ll also get the opportunity to business partner across different departments and divisions too, to build your stakeholder relationship management skills. On top of all that, we’ll fund your study towards a CIPD qualification. Not bad, eh?

12 Month Undergraduate Internships If you’re looking to spend your ‘year in industry’ with us before going back to university and finishing your studies, then we’re bound to have something great to excite you! Our internships are all designed with the aim of identifying great people for our graduate schemes. And we’re a proud winner of a Rate My Placement award in the ‘Top 100 Employers’ category. About You Bag a spot on one of our schemes and you’ll get your career off to a great start! As well as building your knowledge through on-the-job learning, you’ll benefit from a structured core development programme that’ll complement what you learn on your placements. You’ll need to be pretty flexible about where you’re based; we have offices all over the country and you may be required to spend time at some of them (check online for scheme specific details).
