KEY NOTES
The Austin College ‘Roos enter the SCAC Conference Championship in the No. 6 seed after ending conference play with a record of 4-10. The ‘Roos finished the SCAC tournament in fifth place last year after falling in the first round to Texas Lutheran before beating Centenary College and Schreiner University in the two consolation matches. Austin College currently leads all of NCAA Division III (419 teams ranked) in team total blocks with 311 on the season, led by sophomore middle blocker Presleigh Watson who has earned her own top ranking with 146 blocks on the season. The team is also ranked second in Division III for blocks per set, averaging 2.51. The ‘Roos also remain near the top in team assists with 1,280, good enough for 20th in the nation, led by the team’s freshman setter Lauren Wulz who marked 677 assists, averaging 5.79 per set. In total team kills, AC ranks 25th among over 400 institutions, marking 1,371 for the season on 4,226 total attacks, which ranks ninth amoung Division III. In the first match of the tournament, the ‘Roos will take on the No. 3 seed Colorado College. The CC Tigers are currently ranked No. 13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll. The two teams met twice in the regular season, with both matches going to the Tigers in three sets.
PLAYERS TO WATCH PRESLEIGH WATSON
Watson, a sophomore middle blocker, has played all 35 matches for the ‘Roos and led her team through with 286 kills, averaging 2.36 per game and a hitting percentage of .317. Watson also led the team in total blocks and blocks per set with 146 and 1.21, respectively. Watson’s mark of 146 blocks currently leads all of NCAA Division III and her blocks/set rank 14th in the nation.
MADISON LEE
Lee, a sophomore outside hitter, played in all 35 matches for the ‘Roos, starting in 23. Lee ranked second on the team with 234 kills, on a team-leading 794 total attacks, averaging 2.09 kills per set. In addition, Lee also marked 34 service aces, 54 total blocks and 237 digs on the season.
RACHEL FUSSELMAN
Fusselman, a junior defensive specialist/ libero, led the team with 561 digs, averagin 4.75 per set. Fusselman is currently second in the SCAC for total digs and 16th in all of NCAA Division III. KEY NOTES
The Colorado College Tigers finish conference play ranked No. 13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll after earning the third seed in the SCAC Championship with a record of 11-3 in conference play. The Tigers offense ranks 10th in the nation for total team kills with 1,463 and 13th in kills per set, averaging 13.55 -- which also leads the SCAC. CC is led by sophomore Abbe Holtze who ranks 13th in the nation for total attacks (1,186) and 14th for total kills (405). Holtze also leads the SCAC in kills per set with an average of 3.82. The Tigers defensive efforts also rank highly among SCAC institutions as libero Sophie Merrifield is third among all players in the conference for digs and digs/set, marking 555 and 5.14, respectively. Merrifield also ranks second in service aces and service aces per set, just one behind Trinity’s Layne Hubbard with 51 aces, averaging 0.47 per set. The Tigers will take on the Austin College ‘Roos in the first round of the tournament. CC holds a 2-0 win advantage this season, defeating AC 3-0 in both matches. However, the two teams will face on Austin College’s home court as they host the tournament. They previously competed at Colorado College in hte second divisional match up and at the University of Dallas, the site of the first divisional tournament. The Tigers were able to hold the ‘Roos to a .059 hitting percentage the first time the team’s played, as Holtze marked an impressive .407 hitting percentage. In the most recent matchup, the ‘Roos were able to mark 18 total blocks to remain close throughout the match, but fell just short.
PLAYERS TO WATCH ABBE HOLTZE
Holtze, a sophomore outside hitter, leads the Tigers with 405 kills, averaging 3.82 kills per set. Holtze also leads the SCAC in both categories. Holtze currently holds a .208 hiting percentage. In addition, she is also second on the team with 379 digs, averaging 3.58 per set and fourth on the team for total blocks with 46.
KRISTEN LIBERTY
Liberty, a senior middle hitter/outside hitter, has played in all 32 matches for the Tigers, helping the team to a 26-6 record. On the season, Liberty has marked 272 kills, averaging 2.54 per set on 785 total attacks. She has also added 40 digs and 34 total blocks.
SOPHIE MERRIFIELD
Merrifield, a junior defensive specialist/ libero, leads the Tigers with 555 digs, averaging 5.14 per game. She is also third in the SCAC for total digs and digs/ set. The University of Dallas Crusaders enters the post season with a conference record of 8-6, earning them the No. 4 seed in the SCAC Championship tournament. The Crusaders rank highly among the nation in multiple categories, including team digs, where they rank 12th with 1,985 total. Dallas also ranks within the top 10 in two other categories, digs per set (19.46) and team attacks per set (39.76). The team’s offense is led by Jaime Birzer who leads the Crusaders with 296 kills, averaging 2.64 kills per set. Birzer also leads the team’s blocking attack, putting up 74 total blocks. Senior Emily Caples is close behind, marking 276 kills for the year, averaging Libero Jessie Koster leads the defense, playing in 28 matches this season and marking 540 digs -- fourth best in the SCAC. Koster also has the conference’s second-best digs per set average, 5.57, behind only the reigning SCAC Defensive Player of the Year. The Crusaders will take on Texas Lutheran in the first round of the tournament. Both of this year’s matches have been hard fought battles, but the Crusaders came out on top each time. In the first meeting between the two teams, TLU was able to win the first set, before Dallas won the next three by an overall margin of 19 points. Both teams were close statistically, with Dallas marking just two more kills, but TLU having an advantage in blocks. The two teams finished conference play against each other at TLU in a match that went to five sets. The Crusaders held the Bulldogs to a .115 hitting percentage, while putting up 60 kills on 235 total attacks
PLAYERS TO WATCH JAIME BIRZER Birzer, a junior middle blocker, led the Crusaders in kills and kills/set this season with marks of 296 and 2.64, respectively. Birzer posted a hitting percentage of .263, which ranked seventh among all SCAC players. Birzer is also ranked fifth in the SCAC for total kills and sixth in kills/set. She also posted a team-leading 74 total block on the season.
C.J. BROADBENT Broadbent, a senior setter, leads Dallas and the entire SCAC with her outstanding mark of 1057 assists on the season, almost 200 better than the next player. Broadbent averages 9.44 assists/set, which leads the SCAC and is 48th in all of NCAA Division III. Broadbent has proven to be an all-around player with 43 service aces, 25 total blocks, 72 kills and 292 digs.
JESSIE KOSTER
Koster, a sophomore defensive specialist/libero, has shown her skill on the defensive side of the game, racking up a fourth-best mark in the SCAC of 540 digs and averaging a second best 5.57 digs/set to lead the Crusaders in both categories. The Southwestern Pirates earned the second seed in the SCAC Championship tournament after finishing the conference-season with a record of 12-2, falling only to No. 1 seed Trinity University. The Pirates went into the 2013 tournament as the No. 3 seed, making their way to the championship game, but fell to Trinity in a five set thriller. The Pirates defense has been a staple at the top of the NCAA Division III statistical rankings, and currently hold the top ranking in both team total digs and digs per set with marks of 2,389 and 21.52, respectively. The team’s dig total is over 200 ahead of the next team and fellow SCAC member, Trinity University. Outside hitter Kaitlyn Foster leads the Pirates with 536 digs, which is the fifth best in the SCAC. Libero Chandler Lentz follows Foster up with 388 digs of her own, averaging 4.79 digs per set. The Pirates offensive attack ranks 34th among 419 teams in kills per set and 15th in total kills. Southwestern is also second in the nation in both team attacks per set, averaging 41.37 and team total attacks with a mark of 4,592, just one attack behind the leader, Dubuque. Foster also leads the team’s offensive attack with 286 kills on the season, averaging 2.58 per set. Middle blocker Olivia Drummond isn’t far behind with 218 kills, with a hitting percentage of .229. As the No. 2 seed, the Pirates earn a first round bye and will play their first match against the winner between Austin College and Colorado College. They defeated both teams in the regular season, sweeping Austin College 3-0 each time and earning a five-set win against Colorado College in their second match-up after defeating the Tigers 3-0 in their first meeting.
PLAYERS TO WATCH MACEY POOL
Pool, a junior outside hitter, played in 29 of the Pirates 30 matches this season and ranks third on the team in digs, marking 369 and averaging 3.93. Pool has also put up 208 kills, fourth-best on the team. In addition, she has marked 18 assists, 20 service aces, and 12 total blocks for the season.
KAITLYN FOSTER Foster, a junior outside hitter, leads the Pirates offensive attack with 286 kills, averaging 2.58 per set. Her total kills mark is tied for sixth best in the SCAC. Not only does Foster dominate at the net, she also leads the team with 536 digs, fifth best in the SCAC, averaging 4.83 per set. On the season, she has also posted 40 total blocks, 22 service aces and 22 assists.
CHANDLER LENTZ
Lentz, a senior defensive specialist, is second on the team in digs, with 388, ninth-best in the SCAC, averaging 4.79 per set. Lentz has also put up 22 service aces for the Pirates and 39 assists.

The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs will begin post-season competition this year after earning the fifth seed in the SCAC Championship tournament. The Bulldogs competed in the 2013 tournament as the No. 4 seed, defeating Austin College in the first round before falling to eventual champion Trinity University in the second match. The Bulldogs fell in the consolation match, earning a fourth place finish. Behind the strong play of defending SCAC Defensive Player of the Year Megan Lee, the Bulldogs are ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division III for digs per set at 20.43, and 10th in total team digs with a mark of 2,023. The Bulldogs are also ranked eighth in team attacks per set, averaging 39.78. On the season, Lee has marked a SCAC-leading 627 digs, which is fifth in the nation and averages 6.33 digs per set, which is good for the sixth spot. The Bulldogs’ offense is led by outside hitter Kristin Fording who has 302 total kills, and averages 3.11 kills per set -- both good for third in the conference. Fellow outside hitter, freshman Brette Threadgill ranks fourth in the SCAC with her kills per set average of 2.86. In TLU’s two meeting with Dallas this season, they have fallen 3-1 and 3-2. In the first match-up between the teams, the Bulldogs held the Crusaders to a .162 hitting percentage, putting up nine blocks on the day. The second time the two teams met, the Bulldogs pushed the match to five sets after winning the first and third, but couldn’t find the win. Lee marked a career high 52 digs in that match, the fourth-most in SCAC history.
PLAYERS TO WATCH KATIE DARST
Darst, a senior setter, has put up a team-leading 689 assists on the season, averaging 6.96 per set, which is the third-highest mark in the SCAC. Darst has put up eight total blocks, 24 service aces and 225 digs, averaging 2.27 digs per set. She has also recorded 16 kills on 74 total attacks this season.

Fording, a sophomore outside hitter, leads the Bulldogs with 302 kills, averaging 3.11 per set with a hitting percentage of 0.206, which is third-best among the Bulldogs. Both of these marks are third-best in the SCAC this season. Fording has also marked 19 total blocks, 14 assists and 150 digs for the season.
MEGAN LEE
Lee, a senior defensive specialist/libero, continues to hold onto a strong lead in the SCAC for total digs after finishing the 2013 season as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Lee’s total of 627 digs, averaging 6.33 per set are both within the NCAA Division III top 10 in their respective categories. KEY NOTES
Trinity University enters the 2014 SCAC Championship tournament as the top seed after finishing conference play with a record of 13-1. The Tigers are currently ranked No. 20 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. In the 2013 season, the Tigers entered the tournament in a similar fashion, with an identical 13-1 record and ended the weekend as the SCAC champions. The team made it to the NCAA Division III West Region Finals, but fell to Cal Lutheran 3-1. This season, the Tigers have come back strong, led on the attack by outside hitter Maggie Emodi who put up 400 kills, averaging 3.70 per set. Emodi’s kill total ranks 17th in the nation. Middle blocker Erin Cusenbary has also helped the team’s offensive attack, putting up 298 kills on the season. The Tigers rank fifth in the nation for total assists, led by setter Erika Edrington who has put up 859 assists. The team is also near the top of the rankings in total kills (7th), total attacks (6th), total blocks (4th) and team digs (2nd). Shannon Courtney leads the defensive play as the libero, marking a team leading 493 digs on the season. The Tigers only loss in conference play came to No. 13 Colorado College in their first meeting. The match went to five sets before finally ending in the fifth set with a 14-16 loss. As the top seed, the Tigers will receive a first round bye in the SCAC Championship tournament. In their first game, they will face the winner of the match between the University of Dallas and Texas Lutheran University.
PLAYERS TO WATCH ERIN CUSENBARY Cusenbary, a senior middle blocker, is the first line of defense against the opponent, and has marked a team-leading 131 blocks, averaging 1.19 per set. Her total blocks mark is second-best in the SCAC and third in all of NCAA Division III. Cusenbary is also second on the strong Trinity team with 298 total kills, marking a SCAC-leading hitting percentage of .362.
MAGGIE EMODI
Emodi, a senior outside hitter, currently leads the Tigers with 400 kills, averaging 3.70 per set, both of which are second among the SCAC. Emodi’s efforts also show on the defensive side, where she has recorded 396 digs, third best for the Tigers, and 64 total blocks, second best on the team.
SHANNON COURTNEY Courtney, a junior defensive specialist/ libero, currently leads the Tigers with 493 digs, averaging 4.40 digs/set. She has also posted the team’s second best mark of 47 service aces and 89 assists.
