CAMPOVERVIEW COST Each camp (4 half-day sessions) costs $175 per camper.

REGISTRATION Visit secondbaptistschool.org/summercamps to register. Campers should register based on grade level for the 2022-2023 school year.

CAMP WELCOME & DETAILS You will receive an email from the camp teacher or coach the week before the start of camp with additional details about the week, including what to bring, what to wear and other camp-specific information. Campers will receive one t-shirt for each week of camp they are registered for.

LUNCH Campers attending both a morning and afternoon session are invited to stay on campus for lunch. They will need to pack a lunch from home. Campers staying for lunch will eat together under adult supervision. Families may select this option during the camp registration process.

EXTENDED CAMP DAY Campers attending both a morning and afternoon session are eligible for an extended summer camp day. The extended camp day runs from 3-6 p.m. and includes structured playtime, fun activities and an afternoon snack. The cost is $100 per camper per week. Families may register for this option during the camp registration process. Space is limited.

At SBS, we believe in well-rounded students, and we provide opportunities for them to pursue excellence in academics, arts and athletics. This year’s summer camps are filled with wonderful possibilities for your child’s God-given talents to be nurtured by our highly acclaimed teachers and coaches who are passionate in their areas of expertise. From baseball camp led by our varsity head coach to lower school art classes taught by honors art teachers, your child will be inspired to learn new skills, meet new friends and have tons of fun! WEEK 1: MAY 31 - JUNE 3 | 9 - 11:30 AM B A S E B A L L | KN - Grade 4 Rayner Noble Varsity Baseball Coach Baseball camp teaches the principles of the game with instruction from experienced coaches in the batting cage and on the field. Athletes learn what it takes to be successful in the game of baseball with focus on individual skills, baseball fundamentals, team strategy and team competitions in a fun, energetic environment. S O F T B A L L | KN - Grade 4 Margo Ostarticki Varsity Softball Coach Softball camp focuses on instruction in all aspects of softball including throwing, fielding, hitting, base running and situational gameplay. Sessions highlight small group and team competition. Campers learn the fundamentals of the game while gaining confidence in their softball skills. C R A F T AT TAC K | Grades 5 - 8 Sarah McKeon Middle School Visual Arts Teacher Craft Attack allows campers of all levels to have FUN and get messy! Campers create hands-on crafts such as tie-dying, mosaics and string art. By the end of the week, campers will have multiple art pieces to take home. ART UNDER THE SEA | KN - Grade 4 Amanda Woodard Upper School Art Teacher Start off summer with a splash… of paint! Campers develop creativity and artistic skills while gaining knowledge of marine life and creating artwork inspired by the ocean! All skill levels are welcome to join as campers dive into the deep blue sea of art exploring a variety of mediums such as painting, drawing, collage, sand art, fiber art and sculpture!

JUMPSTART READING & MATH KN - Grade 1 Kate Warrick Lower School Teacher Jump into the world of reading and math readiness with this skill building camp. Campers will build a foundation of reading and math concepts, such as phonemic awareness, word analysis, place value and number sense. By reviewing topics in a variety of fun and exciting ways, students will boost their learning leading into the summer! LEGO ROBOTICS | Grades 3 - 4 Ashleigh Manion Lower School Technology Teacher Campers become engineers using LEGO WeDo 2.0 and LEGO bricks to create and animate one-of-a-kind robots to solve real-life problems. They explore how to use gears, cams, axels, sensors and motors when designing and creating robots. A fun-filled week of building and bringing their robots to life culminates in an epic battle bots competition! CODING UNPLUGGED Grades 5 - 6 Kara Marshall Middle School Technology Teacher Think like a coder! Campers explore the world of coding by using handson, engaging learning experiences without a computer. Decode messages, play games and work together to solve problems! Develop skills that computer scientists use each day such as resilience, creativity, critical thinking and logical reasoning.

EXPRESS YOURSELF! | Grades 5 - 8 Amanda Woodard Upper School Art Teacher Express Yourself! cultivates the therapeutic benefits of art as campers learn to use art as a means of selfexpression, emotional exploration and personal discovery. A variety of visual art mediums are paired with movement, music and writing to aid in self-expression and spark creativity. Campers engage in social-emotional learning as they create, collaborate and process art in a judgment-free zone where they relax and have fun with art and their friends! ABSTRACT ART | KN - Grade 4 GeAnna Manners Upper School Art Teacher Let go and have fun with abstract art! Campers have freedom to create works of art including splatter paint, paint dripping and more! Using acrylic paint, chalk pastel, watercolor and oil pastels, campers dream big and allow

their imaginations to grow. At the end of the week, campers host an art gallery to showcase artwork to their families! BUBBLE AND FIZZ! | KN - Grade 2 Ana Konuma Middle School Science Teacher Perform ooey gooey feats! Campers conduct science experiments with creativity and ingenuity, applying scientific principles along the way. They will learn why things bubble, fizz, react and grow and how science is used in everyday life. Campers’ minds will erupt with this hands-on, collaborative camp! CODING-BOT | Grades 3 - 4 Ashleigh Manion Lower School Technology Teacher Code-a-bot! Campers learn how to code and program a Sphero robot to complete fun and exciting challenges! Using creativity, logic, art, math, architecture and problem solving skills, campers work together with a step-by-step coding language and programming concepts. MATH RECESS | Grades 3 - 5 Andrea Sage Lower School Teacher Slide into math recess where campers experience math through creative and engaging games, puzzles and fun handson activities. Campers are given freedom to explore math in fresh and exciting ways! By the end of the week, campers will see math in a whole new light! READiness | Grades 5 - 8 Elleana Yarborough SBS Instructor and Coach Read to learn! Campers nourish their minds in this engaging camp focused on critical thinking and text analysis. We will venture into a different land every day including jungles, oceans and even the great state of Texas. This will be a fun-filled experience with engaging hands-on activities. Let’s get ready to explore! CODING 101 | Grades 1 - 2 Ashleigh Manion Lower School Technology Teacher Coders learn how to use a programming language to create their own interactive stories and games. Using multiple block based coding platforms including Scratch Jr, Osmo, Sphero Edu, and code.org, campers enjoy a week of fun-filled challenges that are sure to sharpen their coding skills. Through problem solving and mathematical exploration, this camp covers topics such as negative numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, rates, proportional relationships, inequalities, geometry and more!

WEEK 3: JUNE 13 - 16 | 9 - 11:30 AM FOOTBALL | KN - Grade 5 Terry Pirtle Varsity Football Coach Football camp players receive instruction from our experienced coaching staff in all aspects of football including passing, rushing, receiving, line play, blocking and pass and run defense. Campers learn the fundamentals and techniques necessary for each position including small group and team competition. Campers are encouraged through fun and fellowship while gaining confidence in their football skills! This is a non-contact camp. CHEER AND DANCE | Grades 5 - 8 Andrea Spence Varsity Cheer Coach With fun-filled experiences in both cheer and dance, campers develop skills including jumps, turns, leaps and basic stunts. Skills and routines are taught in an energetic atmosphere and performed for parents and fans on the last day of camp. Varsity cheerleaders and Golden Girls will be on hand to help with instruction and demonstration. Campers interested in middle school Spirit at SBS will benefit from this camp! MUSICAL THEATRE | KN - Grade 4 Claire Westmoreland Upper School Music Director Cindy Blades Director of Arts Musical theatre campers learn basic acting, vocal and creative movement techniques. During this high energy and fun-filled week, campers learn the fundamentals of musical theatre while gaining confidence and growing in their performance skills. Theatre games, improvisations, singing,

dancing and confidence-building activities make this camp come alive! ILLUSTRATORS | Grades 5 - 8 GeAnna Manners Upper School Art Teacher Anyone can be an illustrator! Campers are encouraged to be creative as they illustrate personal stories using different drawing methods and styles with mediums such as colored pencil, ink and watercolor! At the end of the week, artists’ families are invited into the imaginations of their camper as they read from their illustrated storybook. WRITER’S WORLD | Grades 2 - 4 Laura Mascioli Communications Specialist Writer’s World is a creative writing camp where campers explore the world of writing through fun, interactive games, artistic inspiration, inspiring authors and more! Bringing words to life, campers learn to add depth to their writing, grow their vocabulary and develop ideas. From poetry to descriptive writing, campers will come away with new writing skills and a greater love of writing! HOLA ESPAÑOL! | KN - Grade 2 Melissa Farias Upper School Second Language Teacher Say hola to Español! Inspire a love of language from a young age with Spanish immersion. Campers learn Spanish through songs, music, videos and role-playing as they practice basic greetings, numbers, colors, d ays of th e week and more!

WEEK 3: JUNE 13 - 16 | 12:30 - 3 PM VOLLEYBALL | Grades 3 - 8 Chandace Tryon Varsity Volleyball Coach Volleyball camp develops key volleyball skills including serving, passing, hitting, setting and team rotations. Athletes fine-tune their fundamentals while improving their effectiveness on the court. Players will gain a deeper understanding of the game through work on basic skills and team drills in an uplifting, high-energy camp. CHEER AND DANCE | KN - Grade 4 Andrea Spence Varsity Cheer Coach With fun-filled experiences in both cheer and dance, campers learn skills and routines in an energetic atmosphere and perform for parents and fans on the last day of camp.
