Welcome to the nest!

Nestled on the bucolic 100-acre campus of Stoneleigh-Burnham School (SBS), the SBS Middle School was founded in 2004 according to three guiding principles:

1. The School’s mission statement and the focus on international community, respect, authentic best self, and voice.

2. The research-based principles of successful middle schools – culture, curriculum, and leadership –according to the Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE) .

3. The core elements of self-esteem in girls according to Dr. JoAnn Deak: connectedness, competence, confidence.

A Word from the Dean

“Students’ questions and ideas fill the air as they work and learn together, contributing and discussing each other’s understanding of the world, and pushing themselves beyond what they thought possible. Through classes, arts, athletics, the residential life program, advisory, and class meeting, students are encouraged to develop their voice as they create a positive atmosphere for living and learning together. Everyone can find their place here.”
