Mission Statement On Angels’ Wings (OAW) seeks to improve the mental health and wellness of families with medically fragile children - regardless of race, ethnicity, class status, or orientation - through free therapeutic photography and grief recovery services.
Service Area Founded and headquartered in Springfield, Missouri - serving Springfield and the surrounding area including Branson and Joplin. Also serving the greater St. Louis area, Kansas City, Cape Girardeau, Poplar Bluff, Rolla and other smaller towns south of the I-70 corridor where volunteer photographers are willing and available. 82 · 2021 GIVING GUIDE

Increase OAW’s service reach and number of families served through community awareness, hospital connections and volunteer photographer education. Obtain funding to add one to three salaried staff members. Set up and regularly utilize new headquartered space in Springfield for studio photo sessions in a safe environment and ongoing grief recovery group meetings for recipient families.

It was about so much more than photographs: I felt seen. I felt heard. I was amazed that someone had anticipated this need I felt deep in my soul to have beautiful documentation of my daughter’s life - the good and the bad. I knew that I had finally found someone who understood us, who knew that children don’t always get better, and that what we needed wasn’t another person telling us that everything would be fine. We needed someone to get into the trenches of reality with us. Since our first On Angels’ Wings photos six years ago, Ellie has had many more heart surgeries and medical procedures, including a miraculous lifesaving heart and double lung transplant. Through it all, OAW supported us and anticipated our needs. Our OAW photos over the years document not just the stages of Ellie’s medical journey, but also the many stages we have gone through as a family. -Kali Bowman (mommy to Ellie, Q22 Deletion) The images taken by OAW are my most treasured photos. The few hours I held my precious angel baby are with me, as is the continued support of OAW. I am so incredibly thankful. -Danielle Harris (mommy to Jocelyn, birth loss) NICU staff made arrangements for me to be able to hold my daughter, in case it was the first and only opportunity, and had a photographer there to document and capture what can only be described as a miracle. As I held her tiny, fragile body to my chest, her vitals began to improve. By the time me and her dad finished holding her, she was stable, and all the nurses were astonished. I have no recollection of the photographer in the room that day, but the photos I received are a gift that never stops giving. I look back on them often, to remind me how far she’s come.
