DISSERTATION RESEARCH
Poetics of a Market Space Andheri, Mumbai
We have always seen most of the public spaces built with time saver standards along with the efficiency of the material and space.
But what we tend to escape is, to understands who utilizes the space, how the space gets newly adapt? What makes the public space an extension of home? - A space to hold friendship and solidarities
The research attempt to draw the sensorial ways of inhabiting the public space, like a fish market. And looking closely to study how different senses allows women to build friendships within the natural shade, or travel with the sense of the smell, or sound of the neighborhood areas provides a sense of time.

DISSERTATION THESIS DESIGN
Redesigning the water edge through sensorial dimensions
Borivali, Mumbai
The initial process started with zoning of places on site, with various strategies.
The site chosen had a long 250m stretch river water front being covered with huge 4m wall and existing programs like Dhobi Ghat, Garage, Garden, Temple, Community Hall and Open plot and a neighborhood with residential colony and having a major population of senior citizen residing who spends major time of the day on the outskirts of their home, at the backyard, in the temple, or on the side road edges, within the shade and natural ventilation. Making the forest along the river water completely hidden because of the boundary walls.
The geometry for the proposed design is through the concept of the densely covered trees and huge trunks of the trees. Allowing various senses to activate and having programs like
A Pavilion - allowing the textures of wind to be felt,
Temple - Worshiping forest, a play of filtered light
Performance space - Inhabiting shadows
Day care - in between the smellscapes of trees
Dhobi ghat - Sensation of wetness

A place where visitors can find exhibition and working studio, needs a lot of engagement, to create this nodes of interaction there is a central space.
The rooms are at the periphery and the social meetup space is at the core. The main intention of using timber as a frame structure material is to create a curious interaction of visitors with the structure and to promote and adapt the use of local materials. It creates a chain of income to the rurals as well as it does not harm the nature,
The atrium with a timber railing present at the core feels the entire building is light, and avoids the perspective of seeing each floor has a single blocked floor, instead makes it more fluid.

RESOURCES, FLOWS AND SYSTEMS
Artist Residency Powai, Mumbai
The initial process started with zoning of places on site, with various strategies
1)To regulate sunlight into spaces,
2)Creating buffer space to avoid direct impact of heat.
3) Rain water harvesting.
4) Treating grey and black water- a source of knowledge and information to visitors.
5)Adding more vegetation - improves natural cooling and shading.
Roads surrounding the site allows people to take a pause and have a interaction addition of acoustic panels in between the slab and walls, prevents the roadside chaos of traffics and shops.
Dormer windows facing towards east helps in escaping hot airs outside.

An intent to design a module/unit which will be flexible enough to assemble and dismantle, the module manually. The module is made up of 2 bamboo having bamboo compressed sheet panels in between, this adjustable panels can be rotated for light ventilation. It restricts the amount of external noise to enter in, due to the presence of acoustic sheets in between From the plinth till the roof comprises module.
The modules are placed in V-shape to create a balance and strengthen walls to take load from top, the grey and black water treatment not only helps in treating the water but also provides knowledge to visitors. This modular nature of the material helps in achieveing different forms for various events.

WHAT IS A FACTORY?
Kudal, Maharashtra
FACTORY AS A COURTYARD
A factory which becomes a core for owners and workers where their life gets associated with it.
An intervention was necessary not only for the large scale production but also for betterment in workers life.
The existing factory with a constantly occupied narrow corridor, restricts the flow of movement and creates a pause. An Intervention is done where the rooms are at the periphery with the open courtyard at the core, breaking the visual boundaries of open and close space.
A varied level courtyard helps in utilizing the space more efficiently.
A recessed space on the walls provides Workers a resting space in the afternoon.

WHAT IS A HOME?
Charkop, Kandivali, Mumbai
HOME AS AN EXQUISITE CORPSE
The house which constantly shifts it’s behaviour, where the staircase becomes the core for the multiplicity of activities to happen. the process started with understanding the individual rooms how it behaves like the kitchen as a meeting place for ladies. Bedroom as an irrational dream of space, all the places were stitched together.
A porch at the ground floor affords neighborhood interaction. The kitchen with gradual steps for ladies to have a social space while cooking. The steps turned into a drawer for storing of ingredient. The idea of the kitchen as a social space gets fluid and flows out. The staircase becomes a rack to store daily objects required. A wall which folds out to form a
storage within a wall, along with the sloping roof at the top turned to be accessible for sitting so as to experience and make irrational dreams of space in real, the presence of glass Mangalore tiles helps in illuminating the rooms naturally.
