SPONSORSHIP

The Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center (FSAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides direct support to the Sawtooth Avalanche Center (SAC). Our mission is to support the SAC and promote life-saving avalanche safety information, education and outreach to people recreating, working and traveling throughout south-central Idaho.
FSAC staff members work in collaboration with the SAC forecasters, Board of Directors, and each other to accomplish our mission. Executive Director, Cody Richmond is at the helm of logistics and non-profit administration. Education Coordinator, Annie DeAngelo leads the education and community outreach efforts.
The FSAC Board of Directors is critical to the success of FSAC efforts. Each board member brings a different skill set and perspective to meetings, which drive our course of action. The Board meets once a month with the SAC and FSAC staff to discuss fundraising, events, education, media, and community outreach.

FSAC covered a large portion of the payroll for 2 of the 4 full-time forecasting positions.
Volunteers worked over 500 hours on FSAC fundraising events and over 5,000 hours in the field.
SAC forecasters observed thousands of avalanches. Of these, staff performed four avalanche incident investigations, the most in SAC history.
The SAC received 301 observations from the public, tied for

Increase community recognition through regional outreach events, with an emphasis on growing recurring memberships.
Grow our reach by increasing educational offerings in the I-84 corridor and expanding educational offerings for the Spanish-speaking community, hunters, and other niche user groups.
Increase outreach to the motorized community, which makes up 17 of Idaho’s last 20 backcountry avalanche fatalities.
Diversify our media presence by posting a wider range of content to our online channels.
The FSAC provides about half of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center’s annual operating budget, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our community! Your donations fund wages and essential equipment for our forecasting team, whose daily avalanche forecasts provide life-saving information to the public. Your support funds the SAC website, which informs the community about avalanche hazards and educational opportunities. You are the reason we retain professional, committed, and consistent staff.
Every donation, no matter the amount, is crucial to helping us meet our mission. Every donation, no matter the amount, could save a life.
