june 2019
Editorial work on a concise documentation of Venezuela’s history, aimed at explaining the country’s political and social decline and why its current and former inhabitants feel nostalgic (nostalgia) for the old times.
The color scheme used for the images represents a progressively intense visual dynamic. Hugo Chávez, central to the tragedy of the country’s political and social situation, serves as the focal point for this color scheme:
- Before Chávez (Antes de Chávez)
Black and white duotone, symbolizing the past that is now missed;
- During Chávez (Durante Chávez)
Red and white duotone, with red representing his campaign color and trademark;
- After Chávez (Depois de Chávez)
Red and black duotone, symbolizing blood, suffering, and mourning, reflecting the arrival of his successor who continued Chávez’s legacy and left the country in a worse state.
