He needs more love than I can give him was what his owner stated when she relinquished her adorable nine-year-old Maine Coon/Domestic Medium hair mix, Frick. Because we had so many cats and Frick wasn't pleased in his new surroundings, he spent a little more time in the intake room getting accustomed to the shelter staff and schedule. Frick is now ready for his forever family. He is a clean cat, with a mellow personality who likes to hop down from his kennel and explore. He used to live with another cat (his sibling) and got along fine but he would probably prefer a home by himself. Chubb came to us in January when a woman had found this big black and white stray on Walker Street in Shelbyville. She allowed him to spend the night inside and said he looked"beaten up" in appearance. No microchip, no collar with ID tags, no missing report. Chubb was selected to go to Vet Tech Institute and while in their care, he tested positive for FIV but tested negative for FeLV. Vet Tech cared for and returned our Chubb in such better health. He is now neutered, microchipped, current on his rabies vaccination, wormed and had a dental procedure. This bright-eyed and bushy tailed tuxedo is looking for a home without other cats or share his humans with other FIV positive cats. Just over eleven pounds, Chubb is kid-friendly and loving, litter box trained and is very chill. His adoption fee has been waived. We are looking for an inside home for him, he's already been through so much living a life on the streets, and deserves a life of luxury.
Meet Zar a
She's happy to be home. The shelter first met her in August in 2017 when she was a three-month-old pup. Her owner was incarcerated so she was brought to the shelter since no one could care for her. She was adopted and spayed shortly afterwards but unfortunately the family moved, gave her away and that family abandoned her on the streets. After a Humane Society picked her up, they tracked her microchip to our shelter and we gladly went to pick her up and bring her back. Zara is spayed, current on her booster vaccinations, bordetella and heartworm negative. She is also microchipped through Home Again and that chip will be changed as soon as she is adopted by a loving and forever family. She is a year-and-a-half old, housebroken, loves children, playing tug-of-war and is good with most dogs. Zara is all smiles and has great leash skills. Her adoption fee has been waived to a preapproved home.
