Chatham Academy fits the curriculum to the student, not the student to the curriculum. From the moment a student walks in the door to the time they leave each day, we work to provide a learning environment that is conducive to his or her individual learning needs. We utilize direct, sequential, multisensory instruction to target academic areas of need and increase performance in areas of academic strength. Specialized instruction using proven approaches such as Orton-Gillingham, Maryilyn Zecher Multisensory Math, a 10:1 student-to-teacher ratio, consistent progress monitoring, and communication between parents and our teaching team allows us to create a unique environment where students with learning differences can thrive.
STRUCTURED MINDFULNESS PROGRAM: Time is devoted each day to directly instruct students about self-awareness and self-regulation, understanding of positive relationships and productive social interactions. Students develop stronger “soft skills” that are so important for each student’s future success.
