Lockamy, Jr., coming at the end of the 2016-17 School Year, the Board of Public Education has been actively conducting a superintendent search for the purpose of filling the district’s top position. A multi-phase process was utilized that involved community input for selection criteria, an in-depth application review, and two rounds of interviews. After a month long application phase that resulted in the receipt of ninety-seven (97) completed applications, thirteen (13) applicants were identified and six (6) interviewed during the first-round of the interview phase held on April 26, 2017. On May 4, 2017, the four (4) candidates returned for the second round of interviews. Throughout the search process the Board reviewed and interviewed a number of highly qualified candi-

Varsity Blazer Immanuel Davis or “Manny” as he is called by his teammates, is a true pass-first point guard and shooting guard for Bethesda Academy’s varsity basketball team. Because of his fiery passion for the game, Immanuel has always caught the eye of coaches and fans alike. His love for basketball has been apparent since his league days at Delaware center and he now thrives as a leader for his Blazer team. Manny enjoys launching the type of no-look passes that would make his fellow Leo, Earvin “Magic” Johnson proud. As a truly unselfish player, rather than taking the ball to the basket at every opportunity, he seeks out the best possible play for the score and shares the wealth with his teammates. Savannah Inner City Aglow Meeting

The next Savannah Inner City Aglow meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 18 G. It is held at the Coastal Georgia Center at 305 Fahm Street, behind the Visitors Center on MLK Blvd. Our featured speaker is K. M. (Michael) Paradice, a prolific author and a serious student of the Bible. Our Worship Leader is Huxie Scott. Besides having an interesting last name, K.M. – known to family and friends as Michael – is a prolific writer who brings spiritual truths to life through the characters of his novels. His works are rife with the ageless conflict of good versus evil, light versus darkness, and the eternal versus the temporal. His themes seamlessly blend the realms of spirit, fantasy, and science fiction, all the while keeping his readers on the edge of their seat, waiting to turn the next page. K.M. Paradice is mostly a man who loves God. He is also a serious student of the Bible who has spent over 40 years exploring its glorious content. And, he realizes he has not even scratched the surface! Among things he is known for saying, perhaps this one statement sums it up best: “If it is in The Book, let’s do it; if it is not in The Book, let’s not do it.”

Steller Music Award winner Lucinda Moore serenaded Lester in song. In the words of WSAV TV’s Kim Gusby, the evening was about “giving an amazing man his flowers while he can still smell them!”

K. M. (Michael) Paradice While eschewing titles and accolades, he embraces the simplicity of the Gospel and readily shares that simplicity with others. He and his wife shepherd a small group of believers in their home, emphasizing the Kingdom of God and the building up of his church. He describes himself in this way: “I am a husband and a father. I have five beautiful daughters and three handsome sons, all of whom are adopted. I take out the trash. I frequently cook dinner for my family. I often function as the family chauffeur. Together with my wife, I held my oldest daughter, Ruth, in my arms when she took her last breath and crossed into eternity. Comes under the category of things you don’t think will happen to you. But it did, and I lived. And not just lived, I found God through the whole process (or perhaps I should say God found me through the whole process), “He is still loving me, still hanging around to talk to me.” For more information about this meeting, contact Annette Mason at 912777-7530, Mary Williams at 912-247-6927, Karen Blackenwelder at 912-4452836 or Marilyn Neal at 912-661-0881.
