SSU Plans Athletics Division Change

Savannah State University (SSU) President Cheryl D. Dozier today announced the intent to classify all athletics programs from NCAA Division I to NCAA Division II, pending approval by the NCAA. The announcement also signals the end of SSU’s membership in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) after the transition. This decision was made after months of discussion and deliberation in an effort to put SSU’s athletics programs in the best position fiscally, academically and athletically. This move allows SSU athletics to remain in competition and carry on their traditions. The administration has maintained that fiscal responsibility for the betterment of students and the institution is priority. Senior administrators are in ongoing communication with

the NCAA and the MEAC to create and coordinate a plan to have the most efficient transition. “While I am extremely proud of the progress our athletes and coaches have made at the Division I Level, it is not financially feasible for us to continue,” said Dozier. Additional details about the transition plan will be released in the coming months. Savannah State University made the decision to move from Division II to Division I in 1998, while opting to leave the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and become independent of conference affiliation. SSU played its first season as a Division I institution in 2002 when the NCAA granted full membership. The Tigers became members of the MEAC in the fall of 2010.

This year 2017, the week of Passover season begins at sunset April 10th and ends at sunset April 17th, and today, during this present Passover season, the world is experiencing many of the end time atrocities which John, a disciple of Jesus, prophesied would come to pass. When John was put in isolation on the Isle of Patmos to be punished by God haters; Jesus, who had been crucified, buried, risen and ascended into heaven, revealed himself to John. Jesus said to John, “I am he that lives and was dead: and, behold, I am alive forever more, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou has seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be here after. In obedience and as a result, John wrote the books of Revelation, St. John and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, John as instructed by Jesus our Passover.“[I Corinthians 5: 7-8, Revelation 1:1 and 18-19]

During a feast season, John saw Jesus heal a man at the pool of Bethesda who had had an infirmity for thirty-eight years. During a Passover season, he saw Jesus turn water into wine, and it was also during another Passover season when John witnessed Jesus multiply two fish and five loves of bread that fed more than five thousand people and still had twelve baskets full left. John was there when Jesus raised a girl from the dead. The Passover before Jesus was crucified, he raised Lazarus from the dead. During this last Passover season that Jesus celebrated while on earth, John saw Jesus on the cross being crucified; and on the cross, Jesus commended the safe keeping of his mother Mary into John’s hands. John also saw Jesus as he ascended into heaven forty days after he had risen from the grave. However, Jesus revealed himself as being our Passover when he was twelve years of age;

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

The Deacons and Deaconess Ministries of Second African Baptist Church is celebrating 130 years of Kingdom building. In celebration of this outstanding milestone we have planned a wonderful and joyful Anniversary Program. We are inviting our sister churches and community friends to please join us on Sunday,

church was pleasing God by keeping his Word. Ephesus lost her love to pray, hypocrites were in the church at Smyrna, Pergamos kept the doctrine of Balaam and the Nicolaitanes which things God says that he hates, Thyatira were fornicators and gluttons, Sardis was a dead church , the Laodiceans worshiped their money and were proud because they thought that they were rich, but Philadelphia kept God’s word which pleased God. Each Church was admonished to repent so that Jesus would cause death to Passover them! [Revelation 2: 1-5, 8 -11, 12-16, 18-29, 3: 1-3, 7-11, 14-19 ] John prophesied things to come and we are living in the days when these prophecies are being fulfilled. Plagues are being poured out upon the earth as in the days of Moses and the condition of the world is growing increasingly worse because the world has rejected Jesus who died to save us from our sins. People are at war spiritually and naturally; economical crisis, earthquakes, Tsunamis, floods, fires, tornadoes diseases and many other plagues are sweeping the earth today. Repent and be saved from the wrath of God; for Jesus, our Passover is alive forever more and he will command the destroying angels to pass over you. [Rev. 6: 12-17, 7: 2-3, 9:4, 20-21, 15: 1-8]
