Editorial from Mary Snowden

Savannah Herald Newspaper

On November 6, 2017, an article on the front page of the Savannah Morning News touted the exceptional scores of the 9th grade Composition and Literature students at John W. Hubert Middle School. Ms. Mary A. Snowden, 30 year veteran teacher, is the person responsible for teaching those students, who throughout the history of this 9th grade course being offered at Hubert, has maintained a record of students receiving exceptional scores. In addition, on October 18, 2017, Ms. Snowden’s observation by her administrator showed Level 3 ratings (Level 4 is the highest). However, on November 29, 2017, Ms. Snowden was notified by the Interim Principal (Mrs. Lesley Jordan) of Hubert Middle School that, ”I am advising you that unless substantial improvement is shown, you will be recommended for TERMINATION of your current 2017-2018 contract or Non-Renewal of your 2018-2019 contract.” Carefully read the letter presented to her by Mrs. Jordan from the PROFESSIONAL REVIEW PANEL.

Celebration of Life When someone you love becomes a Memory

In Memory of

Elizabeth (Cal) Sloan

Sunrise - January 16, 1950 Sunset - December 13, 2016

We Miss You

Even after one year our hearts ache But in our hearts and soul you’re still here with us Because you are such a vital part of us That proves you are the heart of us And more than just a simple memory We can close our eyes and now we can see Your face your smile your personality You are here We know you will always be In our heart and in our soul you are still a part of us We can feel you in the air We can smell the fragrance of your hair And no matter where we go we know you’ll be there Because your presence is here, your essence is in the air We know you’re watching over us because we know that you care We may not hav the words to convey To say we miss you in the most elegant way So we’ll just say CAL We Miss You EVERYDAY.

In Loving Memory of

Elizabeth “Betty” Williams Savage 4/7/40 Rebirth: 12/8/10

When we look back on this day We see how God picked a flower along the way He reached down so quickly and picked you and left our hearts sad and blue We know one day you would go away But, we just wanted more time and wish God would let you stay But as you packed your bags and look behind We knew you had thoughts of us on your mind Wishing that we wouldn’t be so sad But to think on all the good times we had As God opened up the Heavenly gate. You ponder inside, but you just couldn’t wait You look high and you look low And told us, you had to go Not to worry, or no to cry But that one day we would meet you in the sky
