Agape Family Life Center’s After School Program hosted its Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 20, 2017 for Parents, Teachers, Volunteers, and Community members. This delicious meal was prepared by Rebecca Young, and Betty Gadson. The Director of the After School program, Shirley Young, and her assistant, Teresa Smith wanted the students to plan their dinner as a creative educational project. The meal included: Turkey, cornbread dressing/gravy, corn, potato soufflé, blueberry muffins,

cake, tea, and bottled water. The students used this opportunity to show off some of their skills: They performed a musical selection entitled “I Love Thanksgiving,” taught by their Music Teacher, Mrs. Johnson. They also amazed the crowd with representation of their Thanksgiving Stem Project, taught by Ms. Enduri. The educational assistance is provided by some of Jasper County’s School District Educators.

The Gospel Truth With Gwendolyn Greene Ecumenical Positive Or Negative

The word ecumenical means one body. We know that after Jesus had eaten his last Passover supper with his disciples, he went out into the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and as he prayed as being the son to the Father he said, “Father make them one even as you and I are one.” Yes, when we use the term ecumenical as meaning being one with God, or on one accord with God agreeing with him and not adding or taking away from God’s word, then the term ecumenical is a positive term. However, today the term ecumenical is being used by the World Council of Churches which is promoted by the Roman Catholic Pontifical Council on Ecumenism which purpose is to unify all Christians into only one body, which is the Catholic Church. In this setting, the term ecumenical is used as a negative term because the obstacle of the Ecumenism Council is to reverse the theses against the church as posted by Martin Luther on October 31, 1517, and to

convert all Protestants back into Catholicism, and the head of the church as being an infallible Pope who does not err. [Documents of Vatican II by Flannery, p. 456 (Ephes. 5: 23, Matt. 16:18, St. John 10:16, 17: 21, Rev. 22:18-19] On October 24-26, 2017, the World Council of Churches met in Kansas City, Missouri, which included priests, pastors and Rabbis. I heard the rich popular television evangelist Kenneth Copeland, who had attended the conference, say, on T.V., “The protesting is over.” I seriously disagree with the conspiracy of this ecumenical committee which opposes the truths of God’s word and replaces God’s word with its own traditions and heretical teachings. A part truth is a lie. Even as Satan deceived Eve with a part truth, Satan is still deceiving the nations today and the whole world lies in wickedness. God has called his people to come out of Babylon which is a place of deception; and

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

An old American Indian tale recounts the story of a chief who was telling a gathering of young braves about the struggle within. “It is like two dogs fighting inside of us,” the chief told them. “There is one good dog who wants to do right and the other dog who wants to do wrong. Sometimes the good dog seems stronger and is winning the fight; but sometimes the bad dog is stronger and wrong is winning the fight. “Who is going to win in the end?” a young brave asks. The chief answered “The one you feed.” There is a sinful nature in each one of us and we need to be on guard at all times. The book of Proverbs is a book of wisdom and instruction in which Solomon urges his son to hear and obey. Proverbs 6:27-28 from the Eugene Peterson Message Bible says, “Can you build

a fire in your lap and not burn your pants? Can you walk barefoot on hot coals and not get blisters? Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?” Obviously, the answer to both questions is no. If you play with fire, sooner or later, you will get burned; and the same is true of sexual sin. Behavior that clearly violates biblical principles is never right to do. Always be aware that all of our behavior is in full view of the Lord. Ecclesiastes 12:14 says, “that God will bring every work into judgment including every secret thing good or evil”. I believe that the greatest marriage destroyer of all time is “Adultery”. It is not only a sin against God, but it is a sin that causes so much emotional pain to the other parties involved (spouse and children). If you look at the statistics

today regarding the divorce rate, you will see that over 50% of marriages that end up in divorce is as a result of infidelity/adultery. The sin of adultery is a disastrous reality that has afflicted mankind since the beginning of time. One of the most well known accounts of adultery recorded in scripture is revealed in the story of King David and his affair with Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11:2-27). Let me concluded by asking you is giving into temptation worth breaking your relationship with God, bringing shame and embarrassment to your family and/or destroying your good name? If your answer is no, then start now by protecting your most valuable assets: your relationship with God, your family, and your name. And that’s the simple gospel.

Sinfulness of Sin…

Evangelist Rachel Thomas

When we sin against our fellowman, we sin against God because all sin is against God! John says, sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4). Sin is lying, cursing, drunkenness, believing in horoscopes, fortune telling, rebelling against God, consulting Ouija boards, practicing ESP and Hypnosis, believing in reincarnation are all transgressions of the law. Whose law? Not the law of man. The word, Sin is reserved for the transgression of God’s law. That is what makes sin so terrible – it is against a Holy and Loving God. It was the realization of this truth that broke David’s heart. When he was brought under conviction for this great sin, he cried out, “I have sinned against Jehovah, (2 Samuel 12:13). To be sure, David had sinned against Uriah and against Uriah’s wife, but the thing that made it so terrible was that he had sinned against God. Oh church, O sinner man, if we could just realize so deeply this truth that burned into his heart. In his prayer of penitence, he said, Against Thee only, have I sinned and done that which is Evil in Thy sight (Psalms 51:4). Just remember this, God is always present, always seeing, always knowing, always hearing and is all powerful; Nothing escapes Him! Now the devil led the first man and woman into sin, not because he cared that they were saved or lost, but his primary purpose was, through their sin to make a thrust at God. That is his real purpose in All sin – to use us in his fight against God. That is what SIN means – we have put ourselves in Satan’s hands that he may use us to make a Thrust at the Heart of God. Therefore, it is our uttermost importance to plan in our Hearts Not to sin, but if we do, to make sure we repent of that sin and ask God’s forgiveness. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us

from all unrighteousness. In order to really understand the true nature of sin, we must go to the Cross of Calvary. Just picture yourself there. Sin is the thing that crucified the Son of God. It was sin that took the whip and beat His back until it bled. It was sin that plaited the crown of thorns and pressed it on His brow. It was sin that took the hammer and drove the nails into His hands and feet. Can you imagine the pain of a pin in your finger? Then for us it would have been unbearable to have nails driven through your flesh. It was the thing we call sin that nailed the Son of God to the cross. Whose sin crucified Jesus Christ? Someone said it was Judas, or the Jewish rulers or Pontius Pilate or the Soldiers who nailed Him. It is true that the sin of all these had a part in the crucifixion, but they were not alone. It was the World’s sin – yours and mine which also had part in it. The Cross is an event in history, but with God, it is an Eternal transaction. The Scripture speaks of crucifying the Son of God afresh. “If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh (over and over), and put Him to an open shame” (Hebrews 6:6). That is what men do when they turn away from the love of God in Christ and gives themselves to Sin. They are saying in Action, if not in word, “let me have the whip that I may beat His back, let me have the hammer that I may drive the nails!” Christians, Do you Love Him? Then forsake Satan and be a fanatic for Jesus! Remember Christ died for you and me. I say that I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless, I live; yet not I but Christ lives in me; and the life

SAVANNAH HERALD NEWSPAPER www.savannahherald.net which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20). Therefore, I can truly say, “for me to live is Christ and to die is gain,” (Philippians 1:21). God bless you and don’t crucify Jesus afresh.
