As we steadily progress towards a new version of normal, our community is safely and steadily reopening. And while Mississauga has plenty to offer year round, there’s something about summer in ‘Sauga that’s made for making marvellous memories. This year especially, after over a year of restrictions, most of us are eager to enjoy the outdoors and rediscover our diverse and exciting city. Create your own local adventuress, explore indoor and outdoor activities, discover hidden gems, delve into dazzling day trips and style your own staycations. With something for everyone, here’s how you can have the best #MySaugaSummer
GET ON OUT!
Wonderful warm weather is best felt outdoors and Mississauga has a plethora of ways to do that! Revel in a round of golf at one of two gorgeous golf courses in the city; Braeben in the north and Lakeview in the south. There are hundreds of playgrounds and parks all over the city. Additionally, soak in summer via numerous spray pads, tennis and basketball courts, baseball diamonds, sports fields, and BMX/skate parks. Danville Park is a hidden gem that’s absolutely stunning at sunset. Keep in motion by moving through the hundreds of kilometres of bike lanes and multi-use trails. With detailed maps available, you can plan a day out, create your own picnic stops, and see the city from a different perspective.
Festivals and events are a signature of summer in our city. While there isn’t the full roster we’re used to, the ones happening this year are both safe and exciting experiences. Sugar Rush, Carassauga Festival of Cultures, the Summer Concert Series, and various Farmers Markets are some of the wonderful ways to create new memories. One of our coolest community hubs is Celebration Square and there’s a long list of reasons to visit often. From the food trucks to the fountain to the several events/activities, make sure there’s lots of room on your phone for pictures and videos. Also, Celebration Square is celebrating their 10 year anniversary this year, so there are even more things to do all summer long! Spend a few hours outside with your dog in one of the many leashfree zones. Located throughout the city, it’s a great way to spend time outdoors and give your beloved pet somewhere to get exercise and tucker them out. If you don’t want to do any cooking and still want the open-air feel, Mississauga is a foodies delight! Plenty of pleasing patios grace all wards of our city. From Malton to Meadowvale, Clarkson to Port Credit and Streetsville to Erin Mills, plus the hidden gems, supporting our valuable restaurant industry has never been tastier or easier.

STAY IN AND CHILL OUT
Once you’ve got your fill of outdoor adventure, look inward to continue your summer of fun. The Museums of Mississauga welcomes you to experience their new exhibitions, including “We Are Resilient” which explores local climate change effects, plus “The Lengths We Go” which brushes upon the history of hair. With four key large shopping areas, Square One Shopping Centre, Erin Mills Town Centre, Dixie Outlet Mall, and Heartland Town Centre, finding what you need is centralized. If you’re looking for something on a smaller scale, delve into the hundreds of small, local retailers in all parts of Mississauga and support these hardworking community members. Through our network of small businesses, you’ll revisit familiar places and faces, plus stumble upon some new #MississaugaMade favourites.
GO FISH!
In addition being one of the most beautiful cities in the country, fishing in Mississauga and on Lake Ontario offers some of the best fishing in Canada! Plus, you can fish in Mississauga almost year round. If you’re hooked on salmon fishing, the prime salmon season happens from May to September.

Tourism Mississauga has launched a cool incentive called “Reel in a Deal” which is a fishing incentive program that promotes Mississauga as a prime fishing destination and encourages community members to experience something new.
