SABRINA PATERSON OPERATIONS ADMIN COORDINATOR When asked to define her roles and responsibilities as an Operations Admin Coordinator , Sabrina Paterson fired back with a smile. “Where should I begin?” If our New York branch were an orchestra, Sabrina would be the conductor, seamlessly weaving individual instruments into a cohesive, melodic harmony that moves forward with steadfast, precise timing. It goes without saying that the Big Apple lives up to many of its stereotypes: a city brimming with creative talent and a hotbed of global culture; busy, mercilessly competitive, full of life, and always moving at the speed of light. To make the cut in New York City it takes an unyielding drive, a penchant for success, and a certain degree of toughness – characteristics that Brooklyn-native Sabrina has embodied since day one. “Every day brings a unique experience and challenge,” she explains. “Here, communication and teamwork are crucial. To be successful in this position you need to be a self-starter, a forward-thinker, and allow yourself to have a sense of humor while doing it.” Sabrina’s daily checklist of tasks and responsibilities is anything but brief but to her, it’s simply another day in the young branch’s start-up style environment. From daily operations and accounting to diving in and solving logistical quandaries head-on, Sabrina stands ready to spearhead any assignment that comes her way. With an impressive resume that includes a pre-med education from Stony Brook University, extensive work for the NYC Public Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park production, and Project Assistant experience with the MLB, there’s no one better equipped for the job.

What’s the recipe for finding success on the East Coast? We’ve boiled it down to a few simple ingredients: unyielding devotion to the craft, a keen sense of adventure, and a never-ending ambition to improve. Prior to the summer of 2015, all US projects had been handled from our Portland office; a challenging task that called for an extraordinary level of organization, planning and oftentimes, a rather hectic travel schedule. As our portfolio of work on the East Coast continued to multiply at an astounding rate - 50% of our US revenue in 2014 - we quickly realized that kick starting a new branch closer to the action was the only way our team could continue to deliver the world-class level of service our clients are used to, regardless of location. Setting out to bring our dreams of expansion to fruition, a team of four Portlanders - including NYC’s current Managing Director, Nancy Schacht packed their bags and headed to our new home in Brooklyn.

14 53rd Street, known affectionately as “Whale Square”, sits at the heart of the 22-acre Sunset Park’s Waterfront Park. The sleek reclaimed warehouse space has provided our US team with a plethora of logistical advantages: ample office and warehouse space, an in-house carpentry shop, and effortless access to both clients and event locations in Manhattan - the nation’s influential hub of innovation. Regardless of their “long distance relationship”, our Portland & Brooklyn offices still maintain very close ties on an operational level, moving around resources and expertise as needed. Despite the 2,961 miles that separate both branches, they still remain one unit, one team, united by the desire to successfully implement satis&fy’s brand promise - the One-Stop-Solution in all the markets we operate in.

Ask him anything about a two-lead semiconductor light source, otherwise known as a light-emitting diode (LED) and he’ll take you on a whirlwind explanation, leaving you feeling as wired as one of his latest creations. From autodidactic hobby tinkerer to prolific professional, Brent’s LED wizardry has allowed him to build a career doing what he loves most: taking things apart and making them better. The fact that he consistently advances the boundaries of innovative LED technology in the process is really just an added bonus. Stepping foot into Brent’s LED lab is comparable to wandering onto the set of your favorite science fiction film during the early stages of production. Blinking lights, legions of wires, and the smell of soldering wafts through the air - it becomes evident that this space is as much a champion’s arena as it is a child’s playground. Looking through our portfolio, you’d be hard-pressed to find a major project in our archives that didn’t include the use of vinyl graphics – and for good reason. Vinyl graphics instantly and dramatically transform a space, without a serious overhaul. As vinyl becomes more versatile and popular in a fast paced industry that often requires turnarounds at the blink of an eye, Jake has proven to be a crucial cornerstone of our Scenic Department. From fresh-faced intern to de facto “Vinyl Master”, the past year has been a busy one for Jake. With a steady hand, unequaled patience and pride in his craft, the young Scenic Project Coordinator is a

trailblazer in his own right at the Portland branch, transforming multicolored spools of adhesive plastic into vibrant works of art. Jake’s growing portfolio of work spans both coasts, from the Seattle Seahawks suites, to Portland’s Moda Center, to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton and NikeTown NY, to name a few. Open up his toolkit and you’ll find it’s loaded with the essentials: a squeegee for eliminating air bubbles (a vinyl worker’s worst nightmare), a heat gun, tape and blades. But what defines Jake’s work aren’t the tools he uses, it’s the skills he’s developed through experience, confront-

satis&fy USA - LOOKBOOK 2017

ing challenges, devising solutions and investing a lot of time, energy, sweat and patience. Designing and applying vinyl is a craft, one that Jake has expertly mastered. Vinyl graphics are a staple in our installations and have swiftly solidified themselves as an efficient go-to for making a strong impression with minimal renovation. We’ve further streamlined this process by investing in a compact, travel-ready plotter that our crew brings to job sites for quick alterations and edits at the drop of a hat. That’s the One-Stop-Solution.

US OLYMPIC TRACK+FIELD TRIALS EUGENE, OR 2016 An event of undeniable historical significance - for America’s premier athletes and Portland’s satis&fy team alike - Nike’s footprint at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, OR called for a hands-on consumer experience of unmatched ingenuity. Stepping foot into the three interconnected igloo shaped domes, visitors were invited to live and breathe Nike’s rich history in the world of running – in addition to breaking a bit of a sweat atop a futuristic treadmill.

Visitors partaking in the Nike specialist lead consumer journey, marveled at the two iridescent honeycomb shaped sculptures centered in the “Innovation Dome”. Built by our skilled craftsman according to Nike’s design, these customized pieces were inspired by the 3D printed spike plates found on the bottom of the Nike Zoom Superfly Flyknit - an exclusive one off design, engineered together with Gold-medal winning American sprinter Allyson Felix to help her repeat her success back in 2012.

OUR PROJECTS

The pinnacle of the installation - the interactive “Footwear Trial Dome” gave consumers an opportunity to put their own running skills to the test. After strapping on a fresh pair of Nike’s new LunarEpic Flyknits, consumers were invited to board their designated treadmill where they were instantaneously catapulted into an immersive virtual reality running experience, racing against one another, as well as, Olympic record holder Evan Jager.

It’s really no secret that New York winters are notorious for being violently icy and annoyingly inconvenient - especially when it comes to attempting any sort of outdoor activity. Looking to create a safe haven with milder temperatures for the hoards of skateboarders otherwise forced to trade in their decks for snow boots during NY’s frosty season, Nike SB teamed up with local creative agency LAND-SEE, award winning skatepark designers California Skateparks and our Brooklyn based satis&fy team.

Before any of our creative counterparts could set foot into the rather raw warehouse space in Brooklyn, satis&fy spearheaded a much needed refurbishment. After an extensive overhaul of the historic building’s electric and plumbing infrastructure, the renovation resulted in a nearly unrecognizable space. Designed with insights from riders on the Nike SB team, the premium consumer space offered an unparalleled Nike SB branded indoor skatepark experience and drew attention from media and skateboarding devotees around the world.

From the outside, it may look like a plain white shipping container. But take one step inside and you’re instantaneously immersed in a mobile consumer space – an impressive feat of engineering that our team pulled off for the Street League Skateboarding Nike SB World Tour. Designed for life on the road, we rigged the previously nondescript and self-contained shipping crate to transform into an interactive, SB-branded consumer space at the drop of a hat. Inside, display cases were expertly curated with the newest footwear and apparel from Nike SB, as well as some classics from the brand’s archives. ALL-STAR WEEKEND VIEWING PARTY TERMINAL 23 - NEW YORK, NY 2016

Widely considered one of the biggest events in sports and a celebrated tradition, the NBA All-Star Weekend calls upon the nation’s top basketball players in a riveting showdown between the East and West Coasts. Held annually, the weekend hosts a series of events, performances, and showcases – building momentum and ultimately culminating in the main event: the NBA All-Star Game.

Tasked to infuse the familiar Terminal 23 location with a fresh twist of Jordan branding, satis&fy’s efforts gave way to an ultra-premium party and viewing space, allowing visitors in New York to get in on the action that was unfolding live in Toronto. Incomparably engaging, the retail space was home to a Jordan-branded photo booth, barbershop, and onsite apparel design and customization – ensuring visitors would take home much more than the memories forged at the home of “His Airness”.

OUR PROJECTS

The creative brief for Nike’s Train Chicago event was clear: work closely with the client to build an inspiring consumer space, ready to accommodate a six-week series of fitness classes – and just as ready to tear down when the event concluded. Challenge accepted. Our team of skilled satis&fy specialists transformed an empty industrial warehouse in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood into an athletic epicenter. Outfitted with top-of-the-line fitness equipment, fully functioning locker rooms, and audio capabilities, the consumer space hosted workouts led by top Nike trainers and celebrity athletes, live DJ performances, and art exhibits.

34

We made good on our promise of a quick-and-easy teardown by devising a rather unorthodox approach - wheat paste. We used the mixture to affix all branding to the warehouse’s brick walls, and later removed it with hot water and a scraper. While on site, we also developed a removable paint, made of only crushed chalk and water – proof that constraints drive creativity and that we are never done innovating.

Together with SB&I our team created an event environment that focused on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability as its key visual language. 44

satis&fy USA - LOOKBOOK 2017

Nike unveiled a new approach to design titled “Nature Amplified” during an Innovation Summit held at its world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. The new design ethos acts as an umbrella term, encompassing new innovative products such as the Free Flyknit footwear models that are designed to enhance an athlete’s natural abilities. The artistic installations and vignettes heavily reliant on storytelling proved a rather satisfyingly challenging venture for our team of skilled craftsmen and women. A floor-to-ceiling installation titled “God’s Eye”, composed of over 360 neon threads and 25 pairs of Free Flyknit footwear was one of the visual centerpieces of storytelling. To illustrate the overarching performance story behind the new FlyKnit technology, our tech team engineered an interactive installation, inviting audiences to turn themselves into “knit statues”. A person’s movement was captured via custom engineered connect cameras and translated into an eye-catching living sculpture composed of FlyKnit threads. OUR PROJECTS

HIKE NIKE/ACG POPUP NEW YORK, NY 2015

50

satis&fy USA - LOOKBOOK 2017

Nike reached out to our Brooklyn team to build out a pop-up shop that paid tribute to the Sneakerboot, a relatively new concept that redefines cold-weather comfort by merging sneaker style design cues with winter boot protection. In a way, it almost seems as though this line of footwear – a product of Nike’s sub label ACG (All Conditions Gear) – was designed with NYC in mind. The city is arguably home to one of the most prolific sneakerhead communities, but also subject to some of the cruelest winter weather conditions. Our team installed a multi-purpose temporary retail exhibit at Bowery 135, documenting the evolution of ACG via a curated selection of vintage footwear as well as showcasing new lines of footwear and apparel. Brimming with classic Nike imagery – reimagined by renowned, LA-based artist Steven Harrington – the pop-up shop’s aesthetic magnificently fused the warm, rustic feel of a wooden cabin with the often bizarre, psychedelic creative direction Harrington fans have grown to expect.

OUR PROJECTS

51

It’s no secret that the Windy City harbors some of this country’s iciest weather conditions. Perhaps no wonder then that Nike chose Chicago as its launching pad for a month-long #GetOutHere social media campaign, urging consumers to brave frosty temperatures and exercise outdoors during the colder months.

satis&fy was called upon to install the campaign’s retail counterpart in NikeTown Chicago: an arctic stage fit to showcase the latest weather-defying footwear and apparel Nike has to offer consumers exuding enough grit and passion to get out there and conquer the wintery terrain.

In order to celebrate and showcase their collaboration with Italian fashion designer and Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci, Nike brought us on board to build out a premium pop-up shop in the midst of bustling Soho, New York. The stunning yet minimalist retail environment blurred the lines between art gallery and exclusive fashion boutique, presenting the Nike + R.T. Air Force 1 footwear collection as pieces of art throughout the space. Inspired by the Air Force 1’s classic aesthetic – a shoe that has been building its legacy as a time-honored cultural icon since 1982 – the build included multiple custom star-shaped pedestals complete with fluorescent lights and infinity mirror effects. Staying true to the sleek and minimalist art gallery design ethos, our in-house engineers powered these product displays without laying a single power strip or extension cord. An impressive feat achieved by neatly hiding a car battery within each of the star’s interiors – once again proving that constraints only fuel our team’s creativity.

NIKE COURT/ NIKE LAB 21M+DSM NEW YORK, NY 2015 Game, set, match! Collaborating with the visionary Parisian cult fashion boutique Colette and world-renowned streetwear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, both the new product as well as the retail environment paid tribute to the brick red clay of Paris’s tennis courts.

56

satis&fy USA - LOOKBOOK 2017

An off-court expression of NikeCourt’s lifestyle of tennis, we transformed both retail locations into highly curated concept stores based on our client’s design direction. Our team built retail fixtures inspired by the textures of tennis, seamlessly weaving actual sporting equipment into the detail rich merchandising tables and custom umpire chair-inspired apparel racks. Overhead, an array of suspended tennis balls meticulously arranged by hand - gave way to a frame-by-frame representation of a ball mid-bounce.

With a deep respect for the game of basketball, a decade-long partnership with Nike, and a globally influential aesthetic, Parisian brand Pigalle has made waves in the world of high-end streetwear time and time again. Utilizing the 21 Mercer retail space in NYC, satis&fy was called upon to supply the retail build and installation in honor of Pigalle’s collaboration with fashion-forward NikeLab: an exclusive nine-piece collection that paid homage to the nostalgic fads and styles found on basketball courts of the ‘90s while reinventing classic pieces of on-court attire for an off-court lifestyle. Following our client’s design directive, our team of skilled carpenters crafted product display tables boasting a seamless mix of steel polished mirror, painted acrylic, and EPDM rubber. Retail fixtures with avant-garde shapes inspired by the painted lines found on a basketball court were coated in metallic satined paint, showcasing a vibrant Mondrian-esque color palette.

According to Nike Football Design Lead Jeongwoo Lee, the new Mercurial was designed holistically to guarantee “a true speed system, where all of the materials interlock to produce the most efficient package possible.” Echoing this design ethos, it took a team of satis&fy specialists to interlock talent and know-how in order to proficiently set the stage for the fastest boot in football

Our team of engineers built a towering 40’ wide and 38’ tall high-gloss backdrop for the installation’s overwhelming visual centerpiece: a 15’ Formula One car flown upside down.

NATIONAL TEAM KIT NTNY 2016 “We Can,” “We Will,” “We Are,” “1 Nation,” and “1 Team”: these are the phrases that adorn Nike’s new USA Vapor Kit the official uniform of the U.S. Men and Women’s National Teams. Taking the opportunity to work with Nike inside the familiar NikeTown NY location, we executed an installation that would both reveal and showcase the patriotic gear in a spectacular fashion. With a design heavy on mirrored surfaces, striking lighting solutions, and substantial video integration - it’s safe to say our squad came together to orchestrate a gold medalworthy performance.

AIRMAX DAY NTNY 2016 Nike introduced “Air Max Day” in 2014 to honor the running shoe that became a cultural icon and changed the sneaker game forever. The annual holiday falls on March 26th, the release date of the original Air Max 1, and is celebrated worldwide with special releases in select cities. Minimal, whimsical, and pastel-saturated, our installation at NikeTown NY offered a rare glimpse into the visionary minds of HTM, Nike’s most elusive collaborative series and the trio responsible for Air Max Day’s limited releases. HTM - consisting of streetwear designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, and prolific Nike CEO Mark Parker aims to amplify new footwear technologies, reinvent existing classics, and dive into unexplored depths to take the Nike brand even further. We captured this vision by dispersing Rube Goldberg-esque machinery and elaborate contraptions throughout the installation.

With a focus on cosmic imagery, the release of Nike’s Lunar Epic Flyknit footwear gave way to an installation inside NikeTown NY that effectively launched consumers into a star-spattered, interstellar journey. Upon entering NikeTown, consumers were confronted with breathtaking visuals of cosmic starbursts flooding the colossal LED wall centered within the product engage zone. The retail environment’s sleek and futuristic atmosphere echoed the astral influence behind the LunarEpic’s innovative design. Our team of carpenters crafted multiple custom light boxes and displays splattered with glowing stars to showcase both the footwear and a series of concept boards from Nike designers.

A back-to-back installation at NikeTown NY had our Brooklyn based team straddling the elements from fire to ice during one of our most challenging and visually striking turnovers to date. The apparel Nike featured throughout both installations focused on utilizing multifaceted technology that gives consumers max thermoregulation when working up a sweat in challenging weather environments. Keeping with this theme of ingenious technology, our tech team engineered a motion activated heat tunnel, leading consumers into NikeTown’s atrium while fully immersing them into the retail space’s storytelling momentum. In order to achieve this one of a kind feat of engineering we modified a Kinect controller – a line of motion sensing input devices made by Microsoft for Xbox gaming consoles – enabling it to track a consumer’s thermal image and display it across large, frameless LED screens.

Our team also built and installed animated LEDs throughout the atrium’s pinnacle visual moment. Fully programmable, the LED animation gave the impression of “heat” pulsing towards and away from displayed apparel as well as onto the mirrored hex LEDs on the floor. Transitioning from hot to cold, we departed from the warm color palette in the coolest way possible, flooding the extensive LED installation with icy shades of blue, thereby completely changing the retail space’s atmosphere. An overhaul of the previous installation’s background featured mannequins appearing to break through custom igloo inspired walls.

How do you get consumers to test the newest Nike Free footwear on the most beautiful trails this world has to offer without ever setting foot out of Manhattan? Easy, you just bring said trails to them. Consumers who ventured into NikeTown NY during the Force of Nature campaign found themselves in the middle of an exhilarating and immersive outdoor running experience that skillfully blended audio-visual simulation and real-life fitness.

Participating runners trialed footwear on treadmills strategically positioned on custom flooring designed to replicate the iconic hexagonal pattern of the Free FlyKnit’s sole. In front of them loomed the installation’s electrifying focal point - a massive, all-encompassing 28’ x 11’ LED wall, brought to life by content shot on eight locations around the world by creative agency Los York. As the lights dimmed and the screen’s countdown drew to a close, visuals transcended the physical space and catapulted runners into a mind-bending sensory journey from lush Hawaiian jungles to vast African deserts – while never leaving the isle of Manhattan.

ROCK AM RING/ROCK AM PARK GERMANY 2005-PRESENT satis&fy has played a hand in what could be considered two of Europe’s largest, most momentous music festivals - Mendig’s Rock am Ring and Nuremberg’s Rock im Park for over a decade. Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are a set of annual open-air rock music festivals in Germany and arguably two of Europe’s largest, if not most prominent. Following a rather unorthodox format, the twin festivals run simultaneously, possessing a nearly identical lineup with artists making an appearance at both venues, albeit on

DESIGN WEEK MILANO 2016

Nike invited 10 international contemporary designers to explore "motion" throughout various mediums in order to present the results of their creative process at the 2016 Design Week in Milan. Renting out an industrial space within the city for roughly a month, Nike contracted satis&fy with the venue's renovation and overhaul as well as the execution of their creative directive. What followed is an unparalleled example of the One-Stop-Solution in full throttle. It took a 60+ global team of satis&fy's best, 12 trailers worth of equipment and

material, and a three-week production period to fully revamp the raw industrial space from the ground up and turn it into the awe-inspiring hub of artistic innovation Nike had envisioned. Arguably one of the most impressive elements of Nike's "The Nature of Motion" exhibit was an over 650 ft. long wall composed of 16,000 white shoe boxes, taking up three of 12 trailers alone that separated the 10 artists’ pieces into distinct display zones. In order to guarantee the stability of the rather unorthodox "wall",

our crew used over 100 lbs. of hot glue and 600 silicon cartridges to assemble and adhere the shoeboxes. After three weeks of setup and one week of show, our global team returned to their respective corners of the world, boarding planes back to Germany, the Netherlands, and the US with the reassurance that something rather epic had just been seamlessly accomplished.

Of all the venues available in Madrid, Nike chose the royal palace’s “Hall of Kingdoms” for the launch of its latest soccer shoe, the Mercurial Superfly. Built in 1630, considering accessibility and hauling tons of tech equipment up seemingly endless, claustrophobia-inducing flights of stairs clearly wasn’t on anyone’s list of priorities. Since the historic site hadn’t been in use since 2010, it was entirely cut off from the city’s electricity grid. We therefore had to provide an external power supply - and craft a creative solution in order to hide all the wires and cables used in the process - before our team of almost 60 people could tackle the design directive’s lighting, AV, and scenic design needs.

98

A spectacular vignette was at the installation’s center, bringing the new Mercurial Superfly’s exceptionally fast and explosive characteristics to life. It featured the soccer boot blasting its way through a brick wall and leaving a vortex of destruction and debris in its wake - elements our production shop skillfully crafted out of Styrofoam. Our onsite scenic team used 4 mm steel cables to suspend the soccer shoe midair, while the explosive trajectory was achieved by carefully stringing a funnel of 180 gossamer strands - an ultra lightweight, sheer, gauze-like fabric.
