Parking charges - yo ed
Here to help

7 February 2025
We appreciate that parking on site can be hard for colleagues. If you are feeling anxious due to any issues around getting to work and parking please talk to your line manager. There is help and guidance available from HR to support discussions around flexible working. If you wish to raise any HR related parking issues, you can email kirsty.walker24@nhs.net.
What do I do if I am struggling financially?
We understand that some of our colleagues will have financial worries and the idea of an increase, no matter how small, can have an impact If you are struggling, you may be able to find help from our hardship support fund You can find details of the scheme on the intranet
What improvements will be made to the car parks?
We acknowledge that there are maintenance issues that need completing and these works will be scheduled in this year
At PRH the car parks will be reconfigured soon with clearer markings for patient and staff parking areas At RSH we are putting a plan together to ensure that we are maximising the spaces available to us and making those spaces safe for staff to park We will also be maximising spaces at William Farr House
We will be monitoring these areas with ANPR cameras and issuing PCNs for cars parked incorrectly, without permit or payment and those parking dangerously on green spaces
Why are the charges increasing now?
We are mindful of the financial environment we are all operating within currently and for this reason have sought to minimise the increase You may recall we committed to not increase charges until at least April 2025, a commitment we have met Unfortunately, we have had to balance the need to ensure car parking costs are met, while seeking to decongest sites to support patients and our colleagues
Why is the bank rate under review?
After your feedback, we have decided to review the bank rate for parking Our aim is to make the parking charges as fair as possible for all colleagues We need to make sure that colleagues are paying for parking in relation to their income from SaTH and so the charge for bank staff needs to be reviewed We will keep you updated
Why can’t we just build a multi-storey car park?
We have looked into this, but in the current financial climate and with known planning/local objections, it’s not a feasible option right now
How do you use the ANPR camera data?
The ANPR cameras assist us in a number of ways Yes, they help us to identify non-payment and vehicles parked in the incorrect car parks, but they also help us by looking at traffic flow and car park usage We use this data to work out how much patient parking we need and it helps us identify how may colleagues park within the hours of the Park & Ride, so that in turn helps identify how much colleague parking we need
We really value your feedback, comments, suggestions and questions. Join us at one of our colleague Q&A sessions next week to have your say.
