Parking Newsletter

Dear colleague,
17 July 2025
Welcome to the latest edition of our Parking Newsletter This week, we want to answer some frequently asked questions and give further guidance to colleagues to ensure that Parking Charge Notices (PCNs) can be avoided
We understand that parking is a challenge at our hospitals We want to thank you for your continued patience and understanding, whilst we work to put systems in place to improve safety across the site and improve the experience for our patients and colleagues
The Facilities Team is actively supporting the improvements on-site, working alongside the Executive Team to help deliver a safer, more accessible experience as part of our broader Hospitals Transformation Programme While we know the current situation isn't ideal, every step forward brings us closer to our transformation ambitions
Park & Ride - Your hassle-free option
To help ease the pressure, we encourage staff to use the free Park & Ride service at RSH and PRH It’s a simple way to avoid the stress and help keep things flowing smoothly
At RSH the first bus departs at 6:20am and buses run every 15 to 20 minutes until 9:25pm At PRH the first bus departs at 6 30am and buses run every 15 minutes until 6 30pm Times and details are on the intranet under Facilities > Car Parking
Car sharing - a greener way to travel
More staff are choosing to car share, and it’s great to see If you’d like to join, you can email sath greenertravels@nhs net to connect with colleagues You'll need a car share parking permit to use the dedicated spaces These permits help our team manage the spaces fairly and ensures they’re used appropriately. Please remember: parking in a car share zone without a permit may result in a Parking Charge Notice (PCN)
Any money received from parking helps maintain the Park & Ride and keeps our car parks running smoothly. We work with GroupNexus to manage everything professionally and fairly with patients and colleagues always in mind
The Facilities Team are here to help and always doing their best under challenging circumstances We kindly ask all car park users to treat the team with dignity and respect A smile, a thank you, or a moment of kindness goes a long way
We regularly update our intranet and external website with parking guidance, plus this newsletter to keep you informed We welcome your feedback and want this to be a space where everyone feels considered.

I am in Band 2 and it says I don’t need to pay for parking, do I still need to register with GroupNexus?
Yes, even though you do not need to pay, you still need to be registered for the monthly permit This ensures that the camera technology knows you are entitled to park in the staff parking areas Not registering your vehicle may result in receiving a PCN
I have a temporary vehicle for two weeks, do I need to let GroupNexus know?
If you will be using the temporary vehicle for less than 4 weeks then you will need to email sth-tr carparking@nhs net If it is for more than 4 weeks then you will need to add it to your permit via the GroupNexus platform You can add up to two vehicles on your GroupNexus registration If you do not update your registration with the Parking Team or GroupNexus, you may receive a PCN
I have written an o instead of 0 on my registration, does that matter?
Yes, the parking cameras will not recognise your vehicle as being registered and you may receive a PCN Please ensure your vehicle registration is correct
I have reduced my hours, do I need to do anything?
You may have moved into another pay bracket If there is a change to your hours or you have changed your role you need to amend your permit via the GroupNexus platform
To appeal your PCN, please follow the instructions on the notice Please ensure that you send all correspondence to GroupNexus from your @nhs.net email address. Complaints regarding a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) will only be investigated once colleagues have appealed directly with GroupNexus
