A new school year always brings with it fresh energy, a sense of anticipation, and countless opportunities to learn and grow together. While this Annual Report contains details about our community’s giving in the 2024–2025 school year, I can’t help but pause to reflect on the recent opening of Highlander Hall on September 5 - a project that has been years in the making and is a true testament to the vision, generosity, and love of this community. We could not have reached this moment without our wonderful families, alumni, trustees, and friends, and I am profoundly grateful.
Since our founding in 1952, St. Andrew’s has been buoyed by our core values of community, spiritual foundation, high expectations, caring, celebration, and humor. These guideposts have carried us from our beginnings as a small primary school to the vibrant K–12 Episcopal community we are today. Each family, donor, and volunteer who has given their time, treasure, and heart to St. Andrew’s has made this journey possible. And now, as we step into a new era with this transformative facility, we do so with immense gratitude for all those who helped bring it to life.
At the heart of our school is the sacred relationship between teacher and student. Our extraordinary faculty inspire curiosity, nurture good character, and prepare students not just for college, but for lives of meaning and purpose. Supporting them - and supporting our students - remains at the core of our mission. This is why raising annual operating funds, financial aid funds, and endowment funds for faculty support and tuition assistance is a priority, ensuring that the most important people in our community are cared for in lasting and sustainable ways.
The opening of Highlander Hall is more than a building milestone - it is a visible symbol of your belief in our students and your willingness to invest in their futures. And in the years ahead, as we look to build a new 6–12 STEM Center,
new Middle School, and improvements on our 31st Street Campus, we will continue to rely on the generosity, partnership, and faith of this community to shape spaces that amplify all four pillars of our mission: Scholar, Artist, Athlete, and Servant.
Our future is bright because of you. We have meaningful work to do, and I am deeply thankful to walk this journey alongside you. Together, we will ensure St. Andrew’s remains a place where students are known, challenged, and inspired for generations to come. Thank you - from the bottom of my heart - for all you do to make the St. Andrew’s experience so extraordinary.
Faithfully,
Melissa Grubb Head of School

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
As I embark upon my first year as Board Chair, I am reminded of a quote by the great UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, "It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it." I am humbled by our Board and the Staff's commitment to put in the time to pursue such excellence. Further, I am honored to help our school in that noble pursuit.
Certainly, these are exciting times at St. Andrews as we embark on the transformation of our physical campuses. Last year, we placed the first shovels in the dirt, and just recently, we cut ribbons to celebrate the completion of the Athletic Center and Student Union. What an accomplishment! Our Board, volunteer committees, St. Andrews faculty and staff, and outstanding third party partners all put in the time to deliver the best facility in the region and a place for students to gather for years to come. I am proud to report construction was on time and within budget! Most importantly, none of this occurs without the support of our SAS Community - thank you!
I have two children at St. Andrew's (class of ’27 and ’29) and last year was the end of our tenure on the 31st Street campus. After a decade of carpool lines and field days, I will miss it, but am lucky to get to return for board meetings. Towards the very end of 8th grade, the kids present their “Project Citizen” projects.
Interviewing subject matter experts on their chosen issue, they prepare detailed projects on topics ranging from anxiety and mental health issues in teens to water scarcity in Africa. I believe this is the perfect culmination of nine years on that campus. When I leave the event, I am reassured that our kids are in great hands. The Service and Academic Pillars are on grand display and the presentation skills honed beginning in lower school are exemplified by each child as they present their topics to eager passersby over and over again. When your child’s turn comes - “GO” and I know you, too, will leave so very impressed.
This coming year our kids break in Highlander Hall on the Southwest Parkway Campus and our board’s focus returns to the future. Certainly, the work is never done, but the rewards are worth it. St. Andrew's is a special place with a loving community shepherding curious, mindful children to reach their potential. There is a magic in our school that says it’s cool to be unique, studious, and considerate… that you can be an athlete and an artist; a robotics enthusiast and a rock band member. I love it and I am here for it! Thank you for your support and know that your giving is going to the BEST cause… the future of our kids!

A PRIVILEGE TO GIVE
When we consider why we give to St. Andrew’s, the answer is simple: we are investing in our daughter’s future and the people and programs that make this school an exceptional place to learn and grow.
Our daughter Whitney has been part of the St. Andrew’s community since the very beginning of her educational journey, as a member of the inaugural Kindergarten class of 2029. Over the years, we’ve watched her grow into a thoughtful, confident, and engaged student. Her involvement in Chapel Cabinet, Leadership Council, and Latin Club has helped her develop leadership skills, build confidence, and feel a deep sense of belonging. She has also been fortunate to learn from inspiring educators like Ms. Devine and Ms. Hanners, whose recent teaching awards reflect their personal excellence and the high standard of instruction across the school.
We are continually inspired by the dedication of the faculty and their commitment to students. We also appreciate the school’s investment in professional growth, including Dr. Brandon and Dr. Ackiliche's pursuit of doctoral degrees. Their commitment to lifelong learning enriches the student experience and sets an incredible example of intellectual curiosity and perseverance. This culture of continuous improvement is one of the many reasons we strongly support St. Andrew’s.
Our giving also reflects our desire for St. Andrew’s to remain one of the most respected schools in Austin, known not only for academic excellence but also for its inclusive, welcoming, and forward-thinking community. The strength of the athletics program is another vital part of the school’s well-rounded approach, giving students opportunities to grow through teamwork, resilience, and school pride.
As Whitney prepares to transition to the Upper School, we are especially grateful for the thoughtful way St. Andrew’s guides students and families through that process. Bridge advisors and campus visits throughout the years have helped make this next step feel exciting and well supported.
It is a privilege to give back to a school that invests meaningfully in its students, faculty, and future. We are proud to be part of this community and support its continued growth and success.
Warmly,
Patrick and Heather Nichols Parents to Whitney '29

THE GIVING OF TIME
The St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Parent Association (PA) is honored to reflect on another remarkable year of community, fellowship, and support for our students, faculty, and staff. Guided by our mission to uplift and serve the dedicated educators and students who make St. Andrew’s such a special place, the PA was proud to organize, sponsor, and fund a wide range of events and initiatives that strengthened our school community.
The PA raises its funds primarily through the sale of spirit gear in the two spirit shops, located on the Upper School campus and the Middle/ Lower School campus, and our online store. While the shops are open only at select times during the day for students, their popularity and enthusiastic support from families continue to provide the resources needed to fund our many programs and events.
This year, the PA was proud to sponsor and support a vibrant lineup of school traditions and celebrations. Our Homecoming Festival was a standout event, drawing the community together for an afternoon of bounce houses, food trucks, games, and football! The excitement carried into the Homecoming Dance, as well as milestone experiences for our seniors, including Prom, Project Graduation, and Senior GrillOuts. Across all grade levels, students enjoyed
class parties, Easter egg hunts, and end-of-year celebrations that fostered joy, connection, and school spirit.
In addition to student-centered events, the PA dedicated significant efforts to supporting faculty and staff. We were proud to sponsor faculty meetings and coordinate Faculty Appreciation Week, ensuring that our educators felt recognized and celebrated for their tireless commitment to shaping the lives of St. Andrew’s students. These initiatives reflect the heart of our mission: to support and honor the people who make our school extraordinary.
This year’s accomplishments would not have been possible without the incredible generosity of our parent community. We extend heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers who donated their time, creativity, and energy. Your efforts brought our mission to life and made this year unforgettable. Together, we continue to strengthen the spirit of St. Andrew’s and celebrate all who call it home.
With gratitude, Allison Bassetti, Upper School PA President Michelle Strauss, Middle School PA President Amy Brody, Lower School PA President
A LIFELONG COMMUNITY
My family has been involved with St. Andrew’s since the early 1990s. Both my sister and I attended 1st through 12th grades, and now my two children are students at this amazing school!
During my time as a student, I was always supported by my teachers to do my best and expand my knowledge, pushed to explore my interests, and developed a love of giving back through community service projects. The strong sense of community made the school feel like home.
I have enjoyed watching how the school has grown over the years. Since I graduated, the school has adopted new methods of instruction as research has evolved and has continued to develop new curriculum and programs that
allow students to learn, grow, and succeed wherever life takes them.
St. Andrew’s has always had the ability to balance tradition with innovation. Some of the very same teachers and traditions are still around, and it’s exciting to share them with my children. When my daughter started first grade a few years ago, I was able to show her where I sat in that very same classroom when I was in first grade several decades before! It’s been so special to share these moments with them, and they love to ask me about what the school was like when I was there. Going back to when I was a student, the dedication and support from teachers and staff, the unique experiences students are given, and the high-quality education have all remained the same.
My parents have always been firm believers in the importance of education, and they instilled the same belief in me. When my husband and I had children, there was no question or discussion on where we would send them – it had to be St. Andrew’s! This belief, the importance of education, is what has led us to support the school, year after year.
The St. Andrew's Fund is so important to providing students with the best education and resources available. For me, contributing to the St. Andrew’s Fund is an impactful way of carrying the torch and paying it forward for current and future students to come.

SENIOR CHALLENGE '25
Each spring, the senior class begins their transition from students to SAS Alumni. We know our seniors are ready and excited to move to their next steps, but we want to ensure they are able to connect with our wonderful St. Andrew's alumni community.
There are three components for seniors to complete:
• Update their email address with the Alumni Relations Office. This allows the school to stay in touch about alumni events, faculty updates, and more.
63%
updated their email address
• Make a reunion pledge to the St. Andrew's Fund this year to fulfill in five years when the Class of 2025 comes back for their first reunion in 2030!
• Register for True Blue. Our alumni network at truebluealumni.org is a great place to connect with fellow alumni. Members can share photos, post or accept mentorship opportunities, join regional groups, and more.

BAILEY SOCIETY
The Bailey Society, named in honor of Bishop Scott Field Bailey who helped found St. Andrew's Episcopal School, recognizes donors who support the future of SAS by including the school in their wills, insurance, or other planned giving. St. Andrew’s is extremely grateful to these individuals as their generosity and foresight will enable SAS to maintain its growth and stability, enriching the lives of future generations.
What is The Bailey Society? The Bailey Society is a group of donors securing the future of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School by giving to the school in their wills, retirement beneficiary designations, or other planned giving instruments.
How do I become a member of The Bailey Society? You become a member of The Bailey Society upon notifying the school of your intention to make a gift in a will or other vehicle for planned giving by signing The Bailey Society Letter of Intent.
What minimum amount can I designate? There is no minimum gift for The Bailey Society. St. Andrew’s Episcopal School appreciates and will accept planned gifts of any amount.
We are excited to be launching our new partnership with FreeWill in the 202526 school year. FreeWill can help you make or update your will in as little as 20 minutes, free of charge. By completing this essential task, you can:
• Protect your loved ones
• Pass on your belongings to the children, grandchildren, individuals, and organizations you care about
• Give yourself and those in your life peace of mind
We cannot provide our children and future generations of graduates with the best possible education without first taking care of ourselves and those closest to our hearts. Make a plan rooted in our shared core values of community, spiritual foundation, and care at sasaustin.org/plan
Thank you to these Bailey Society members who have already generously included St. Andrew’s Episcopal School as a beneficiary of their estate plans:
