○ Casio-brand graphing calculators are less expensive and will work for this course, too, but Mr. Penn will not be able to aid students in their use. Students would rely on online videos for assistance. Mr. Penn can help students with the Texas Instruments varieties.

○ For the entire first half of this course, graphing calculators are not used, as 2/3 of the national exam is composed of no-calculator-use questions. Thus, students do not need a graphing

calculator as soon as the course begins in August, but if you are going to purchase a new one, the New Mexico tax-free weekend is August 4-6 for 2023.

○ If students decide to purchase a used (older) graphing calculator for this course through friends or an online site such as eBay, or use one handed down from a parent or older sibling, that is fine Any model TI-83, TI-84, TI-86, or TI-89 will perform all functions necessary for AP Calculus.
