Welcome to St. Pius X Middle School Athletics

This letter is to provide our mid school families with information about MS Athletics, as it may look different than other middle school programs that you have previously had experience with MS athletics at St Pius X is a program that will foster learning, participation and growth!

When do we start?

For 6th and 7th grade families, once you sign up below using the QR code. You will receive an email from your coach confirming your entry There will be a welcome and intro meeting for athletes August 15th during X Hour (they do not need practice clothes). This will allow the students to ask questions to their coaches and get to know the facilities and where practices will be held Practices will begin August 18th Students will be placed on teams during the first week and parent meetings will be scheduled,

X Hour?

X hour will be the last class of the day everyday Sports that will be practicing on campus will have practice starting in X hour. Some practices will end at the end of the school day and some will go a little later, typically 3:30pm. There will be some sports that will practice off campus or later in the evening Those sports are: Razzle Dazzle, Tennis, Swim and Golf. It will be the parent’s responsibility to get your student to that practice. If your student chooses not to participate in sports they will have study hall during x hour

Who

can Play?

We will have as many sports as possible, if there are enough participants 6th and 7th graders can participate in all programs and there will be a no cut policy 8th Graders can be considered for a high school level team or can be considered for an 8th grade team if the program is offered. 6th and 7th grade sports will have a welcome meeting August 15th during X hour if they signed up for sports They will start their first practice August 18th and be placed on teams some time that week 8th grade sports will start on the same schedule as the high school Make sure to reach out to the HS coach about tryouts for 8th grade teams.

League?

6th and 7th graders will be participating in the NM Independent School League 8th Grade teams will be playing NMAA middle schools 8th graders that are chosen to be on high school level teams will be participants in the NMAA and will start their eligibility for high school sports.

Commitment?

We do ask that if you are committing to a program that you fully commit. At St. Pius X that includes being present at all scheduled practices and games We have high expectations for team work and growth at all levels Most middle school games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Cost?

Athletic Fee of $75 per sport that your student participates in. This will be charged through your FACTS account. Other minor costs may be associated with MS sports, for example uniform or protective equipment If your student is part of high school sports there could be more costs attached to a longer season

Away Games?

Buses will be provided for any events outside the metro area

Sign up?

6th and 7th grade families, please follow the QR code to the google form to sign up for sports. This is just to give us knowledge of numbers and names so that we can make sure students who would like to participate can
