Our New Strategy (2025-2029)

Cultivating Faith, Integrity, and Innovation for a Changing World

Last fall, strategic planning surveys were emailed to our parents, staff, and supporting community. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete these surveys. A group comprised of parents, staff, and supporting school members met and went through the surveys in collaboration with Chisel Consulting to develop our strategic plan for the next five years.

Our Strategic Aspiration

Over the next five years, we aim to be a well-regarded, Christ-centered, and growing school that is known for:

• Cultivating students of faith and integrity,

• Innovating in holistic education with strong fundamentals,

• Spreading the love of Christ through regular community service projects, and

• Being a great place to work and volunteer.

Our Strategic Themes

The new strategic plan consists of four distinct themes: Faith in Motion, Purposeful Innovation, Intentional Building, and Living Generosity.

Theme One: Faith in Motion

The theme ‘Faith in Motion’ calls students and staff to actively live out and share their faith with love, clarity, and meaningful engagement.

The school cultivates hope, integrity and compassion by:

• Integrating Christian discernment into learning

• Fostering unity

• Prioritizing shared faith experiences

The goal is to transform perspectives on Christianity, demonstrating faith through action. Graduates will be equipped to:

• Discern Biblical truth

• Share their love for Christ

• Serve their communities

We strive toward this through:

• Clear faith communication

• Annual service projects

• Staff training in Christian integration

• A strong commitment to spiritual growth and unity among educators

Since 1987, Helen Strybos has been employed at Sarnia Christian School. She has announced her retirement. Over the years, Helen’s dedication to students and to her career has blessed many people. She has worn many hats teaching various grades and ending her career as Vice Principal and Student Success Teacher. We wish her all the best in her retirement. Former parents and former students are encouraged to come to our closing chapel on Wednesday, June 18th, at 9 a.m. If you have stories of Helen you would like to share, please email them to info@sarniachristian.com.

Theme Two: Purposeful Innovation

We know that purposeful innovation is important to continue offering students a high-quality education in a fast -changing world. In our new strategic plan, we will research and implement new educational approaches in the school. Our ideas for innovation will come from experts outside of the school, from our own teachers, and from the community at large. This plan includes implementing hands-on learning opportunities outside of the classroom with community partners. We envision that our students will benefit from these new approaches to learning by further developing their creativity, critical thinking, communication skills, and character while preparing them for the challenges of tomorrow.

Theme Three: Intentional Building

One of the stated goals of the strategic plan is to launch a high school. We reported in the Fall edition of the LINK about our progress to date, and we are happy to report that we’re continuing to see great progress and God’s goodness. We’re happy with ve accomplished since the Membership Meeting back in November. We have developed a lease with Living Hope Church to use their building, published a detailed parent handbook, prepared curriculum, and have recruiting staff.

As we strive to meet our goal of launching a high school, we commit to developing a valuable and unique program based on three key pillars:

• Faith Integrated Learning: Students will learn in a supportive environment where faith and academics go hand in hand. They will engage with God as they ask big life questions.

• Personalized Experience: Students will follow their interests and abilities, be given opportunities to build skills and relationships, and be challenged to meet their full potential.

• Service-Oriented Leadership: Students will be actively engaged in the local community, through hands-on learning experiences with our local partners both on and off site.

We are excited for the next steps as we put the finishing touches on this new school to serve our first class of Grade 9s in September. Our next steps include:

• Hosting an open house (details below)

• Finalizing curriculum details and timetables

• Building more community connections

• Preparing the secondary campus

Between now and launch, we encourage you to:

• Pray for whomever God has called to serve as our new high school leader

• Attend the open house on Wednesday, April 30th from 5:00 to 6:30pm

• Reach out to offer your time or a donation

• Share your questions, concerns, encouragements, and thoughts via email (hs@sarniachristian.com)

Theme Four: Living Generosity

As our school grows, we are committed to an abundance mindset with careful stewardship and open-hearted giving. We expect a school operating with an expanded budget will be able to increase staff numbers and enhance staff support while providing for the needs of our teachers, caring for students with exceptional needs, encouraging elevated levels of volunteerism through community engagement, and solidifying our long-term financial sustainability by increasing tuition balanced with a more robust tuition assistance program.
