A: Be enthusiastic. Carry product with you and show it off like a new baby. This is something you can’t fake. If you love it, share it with enthusiasm!

I can remember several times where I really thought I blew my sales pitch, but to my surprise I got a call back to book a party.

Looking for a fun and easy way to get more bookings AT the party? Have your Hostesses help!

Executive Director Rebecca Hoover puts her Hostess to work at every party by playing The Bead Game.

Here’s how it works:

Large Utility Cargo Bundle

• Before the party begins, ask your Hostess if she’s willing to wear three bead necklaces.

• During the party, it’ll be her responsibility to share those necklaces by finding guests who are interested in booking their own Thirty-One parties. Each time she finds someone who’s interested, she should give that guest one of her necklaces.

Because we offer so many amazing Hostess Rewards, it can feel a little overwhelming trying to explain them all at once.

Good news: You don’t have to!

• During checkout, work with every guest who’s wearing a bead necklace to schedule her party.

In fact, one of the most effective ways to get bookings is to pick just ONE Hostess Reward and center your conversation around how great it is.

• If the Hostess shares all her necklaces, send her a free mystery reward – but only after all three parties have been held!

Let’s use our Hostess Exclusive products as an example. Rather than sharing all the great options this season, pick one to be your spring “passion product.” Practice saying what you love about this product and why everyone needs one for themselves.

“I tell every Hostess that all she has do is share her excitement about getting more stuff for free. Everyone loves free,” Rebecca says. “Her friends will want to help her out, which makes it much easier for me to close the deal and get their party scheduled right away.”

You’ll want to share your passion product at parties, but you can also talk about it outside the party to get bookings. Send a picture via text or private message on social, along with a short note about why you love it so much.

Be sure to let people know it’s only available when you host a party, and then close with a personal invitation to catch up and schedule her party.

The key to a good party is making it fun. Before I go to a party, I watch an old episode of Friends or The Office to get myself in the right mindset for fun.

Go into every party with a plan. Know what you’re going to do at every step, and follow your plan closely. I’m flexible when I need to be, but I try not to deviate from my plan too often. People respond to structure, and they’re looking to you to set the tone for what your party will be like.

GIVE the gift of self-esteem February marks the start of International Self-Esteem Month, a month dedicated to promoting strength, confidence and self-love. Self-esteem is something that everyone struggles with, no matter your age.

Boost your self-esteem and the self-esteem of others all year long with gifts and projects that incorporate our Gives-inspired Littles Carry-All™ Caddy.

Host a mental health retreat What better way to boost mental health and self-esteem than by taking a little time off for a retreat? Host a retreat for the women in your life and give them a chance to get away, whether it’s for a weekend or just an evening, for some pampering and relaxation. Put together a self-care basket for each woman by filling a Littles with items like fuzzy socks, a journal, an affirmation card, bath essentials and a stress ball.

ROUND UP! Giving back is part of who we are at Thirty-One, and one of the easiest ways your Customers can help give back is by rounding up their order. Since 2012 Round Up! has helped raise over $3 million to support our mission of empowering girls, women and families.

Give an affirmations basket Take slips of paper and write down quotes, compliments, Bible verses or reminders. Put the slips of paper in a Littles to create an affirmations basket or an “attitude of gratitude” basket. These baskets make a kind and thoughtful gift for a child, friend or someone who you know is going through a hard time.

Encourage your Customers to Round Up! their order total (after tax and shipping) to the nearest dollar or make a donation of any amount to support nonprofits aligned with our mission. A little spare change can make a big difference!

Get others involved by throwing a Thirty-One Gifts self-love party! Have your guests contribute by writing down affirmations like “you are beautiful” or “kindness looks good on you.” Fill several Littles with the messages and then give them away through a random drawing. Or choose one guest at the beginning of the party and have guests “fill her bucket” by writing positive notes specifically for her.

This season, your Customers’ Round Up! donations will go to support children’s mental health programs and research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the U.S. and Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations in Canada. Look for more on these partnerships throughout the season!

Create a vision basket Vision boards are a great way to visualize your goals and be reminded of them daily. Put a spin on this idea by creating a vision basket. Fill it with whatever you want – just make sure that what’s in it inspires you, empowers you or makes you happy. Here are a few ideas: • A stone, to keep you grounded • A candle in your favorite scent • A trinket from a trip that you have fond memories from

Start a pen pal journal As they grow older, it can be hard to get our children to talk about what’s going on in their lives, especially if they’re going through a difficult and confusing time like adolescence. One creative way to build a dialogue and show your support for your child is to create a pen pal journal.

Simply write a letter to your child in a notebook and then place the notebook in a designated spot in the house. A Littles on the dining room table or the fireplace mantel makes for a perfect drop-off station. When your child sees the notebook in the basket, they know it’s their turn to write a letter and then pass it back. Pen pal journals are a great way for them to talk about things on their mind that they might be too nervous to bring up in person.

They are a direct reflection of our mission, personal beliefs and our story.

They guide and express our culture that believes in the power of equipping people to live with honesty and integrity and empowering others to live their best life.

While most of us can easily identify with one or a few of the values as our “faves,” or the ones we may more naturally express, it can sometimes be challenging for us to leverage the others. The ideal scenario is one where at any moment we can all do whatever we do with all 12 in mind and utilize the values in concert with one another.

We all fall into the trap of selectively leaving the “hard ones” out when we’re trying to be fun-loving, for instance. Or maybe we avoid holding others accountable because we fear conflict and forget that we can be gracious and authentic in having difficult conversations. Any one value can be dangerous if not balanced with the others. Being hard-working and purposeful must work together but should also include flexibility and curiosity.

I encourage you to ask yourself if you selectively include or exclude certain values in your day-today. When things don’t go your way, do you remind yourself to be thankful for what is right in the world?

If your child or spouse disappoints you, are you being gracious and respectful as you are asking them to be accountable?

These values were never meant to be one-offs. They are there to encourage us to be complete in how we work, how we show up and how we treat other people. I want to challenge you to take some time and rate yourself on each of our 12 core values on a scale from 1-10. Then take two or three of them that may be your lowest and find ways to work them into how you work, show up and treat others. Ask yourself what life might look like if you could move them up the scale a few points.

These values exemplify what some call “The Thirty-One Way.” We just believe it’s about being a servant leader and making a positive impact on our world and on the people God has allowed us to influence.

A: Time freedom is my “why” and it’s allowed me to create a life I love. I’ve been fortunate to work from many different locations, such as a casita in Mexico to the dock at my lake cabin, adventuring with my children along the way. Nothing compares to the freedom my Thirty-One mobile business has given me.

A: Being a Thirty-One leader is an honor! We are modeling the behavior we want our teams to do. We set the pace for the team, consistently reaching for more. More opportunities to celebrate, encourage and reward the team for sharing Thirty-One with Customers, Hostesses and new teammates.

Q: What does being a Thirty-One leader mean to you?

A: Being a Thirty-One leader means building meaningful relationships. Creating connections with women that have a desire for more invigorates me and makes me want to strive for more in my own business and life. For me, leadership is the challenge of being better than I was yesterday.

A: Thirty-One allows me time with my children, Adelaide and Jack. There’s no better feeling than being there when they leave for school and being home when they return. My Thirty-One career has also allowed us to travel and experience the world together, creating memories to last a lifetime.

Q: What do you love most about being a Consultant?

A: Hands down, what I love most about being a Consultant is working alongside our Team Choose Joy Consultants. I love helping these incredible women build belief in themselves and watching as they achieve their goals and dreams. They give me a daily dose of inspiration and there’s everything to love about that!

Q: What advice would you give to a Consultant just starting the leadership journey?

A: Our best couple friends are because of Thirty-One. Where else can you find couples where everyone “gets” the acronyms, month-end late nights and loads of bags all over the house?!

We enjoy traveling to visit these friends and never worry about being delayed or stranded – we know people all over the country!

A: I love the relationships! Being so connected to Customers, Hostesses and teammates and knowing they are comfortable calling when they need more than just a cute bag, that’s priceless. A hug, a laugh, a shoulder to lean on – and a solution to a home organization mess – it’s all equally amazing!
