T he culture of Colere is focused on fostering a space that inspires to create. The materials we choose, the details we focus on, the mood of the staff, and the space itself is our mode of communication to create the feel within the hotel. It’s human nature to want to be surrounded by things made with care and intent, therefore, the materials in this hotel are sourced from several different artisan makers. All of our design choices tie into the goal of cultivating your creativity.

Preliminary Sketches
The goal of this project was to create a self portrait in the style of a famous artist. I chose Paul Blow. I chose to draw myself working on homework in Discovery Hall, as that is what I spend most of my time doing!
Woodcut Emulation - Illustrator
This project was inspired by the Grimm’s Fairytale story “The Ear of Corn.” The technical aspect of this project entailed making the perfect, vectored lines of Illustrator look imperfect and human carved, thus emulating a hand carved block print.

The goal of this poster was to create an easy-to-read graphic about how to make a cake! I sourced a recipe, and hand drew each image to put into different views.
This textile was inspired by the human fingerprint. I began with hand sketches exploring different ways to arrage the pattern. I then took it into Illustrator and added color.
“Ipseity” Textile
The idea that you are a reflection of those you spend the most time with is a comforting thing. The goal for this house was to create spaces where this reflection can occur. Opening the wall between the kitchen and living room allows for maximum interactions between everyone in each space.
