From the Director

Cheryl Behrent Sarah’s mantras are part of Sarah’s story and every woman’s story. During the last 12 years, it has been both honoring and humbling to be part of the story of Sarah’s, and the women who come here. They are survivors, and thrivers! I am so proud of their determination to accomplish their goals! Above all, for our residents and for all of Sarah’s supporters, “Sarah’s will always be your home!.”

Who Lives at Sarah’s?

Sarah’s served 45 unique women from July 2018 to July 2019:

•

Women age 20+ and not currently parenting

•

Women of any ethnicity, creed or religious affiliation

27 secured employment (full or part-time)

•

Women for whom inadequate resources/support are currently available

27 furthered their education (high school, ELL, college)

•

Women who do not need licensed agencies

•

Women with a willingness and ability to live in community in a group setting where space, food preparation, household and grounds work and living are shared

•

Women whose transition is likely to be completed within 1~1.5 years

Sarah's… an Oasis for Women, to me, means "Home away from Home." Sarah's has provided an opportunity for women from different cultures, languages and background to interact and live under the same roof. The women come from three continents: Asia, Europe and Africa, and they start their humble beginnings in Sarah’s beautiful and welcoming house where no one is treated differently. Goals are set for every resident and coaches are available for guidance. Security of residents is very paramount.

I encourage others to visit Sarah’s.

How Can I Get Involved?

Peg McRaith Peg McRaith is our 2019 Partner in Mission Award recipient. We celebrated Peg and many other volunteers at our Welcome Home breakfast this past June.

Sarah’s Partner in Mission Award is given annually to a volunteer who is committed to ongoing service at Sarah’s and also reflects the values of Sarah’s and the mission of the CSJs in her life and work.
