ABOUT ME

MOJADA Theater Poster Design

This project involved creating a poster for the Cal Poly Pomona Theater Department’s Fall 2023 production of “Mojada.” The goal was to design a poster that captured the essence and excitement of the play, resonating with the audience. We chose to use a strand of papel picado to represent key elements of the storyline, providing a visually compelling depiction of the play’s themes. After exploring various design options and receiving input from the theater department, we finalized a design that met their approval.

The approved poster was prominently displayed across campus on printed posters and digital marquees. It was also featured on the department’s website and Instagram page, ensuring that it reached a wide audience and generated interest in the production.

12PENCILS

Packaging Design

This project managed during the fall of 2022. Its primary objective was to delve into a specific graphic design movement, my selection was focusing on the Swiss Style that was prominent during the 1950s. The task entailed crafting a logo befitting the aesthetics of this design era to headline a box containing a set of 12 pencils, alongside designing and building the packaging for the said pencil ensemble. The prescribed criteria necessitated the inclusion of a distinct logo, the text ‘12 pencils,’ and type and design that explained the style. The discretion to determine the form and shape of the pencil box rested with me. The logo design and the packaging for the pencil box was made with meticulous attention to detail and staying true to the principles of the Swiss Style.

CHRISTMAS CARD

Greeting Card Design

This typography design focused on creating a holiday card. The main goal was to explore the nuances of typography using the word “merry” while incorporating additional elements. The card was required to be bi-fold with a vertical layout, measuring 5” x 7”. I utilized Adobe Illustrator for digital illustrations and Adobe InDesign for card design, ensuring a balance of precision and creativity throughout the process.

MENSTRUAL CENTRAL

Brand Identity

This was a brand identity design for the non-profit organization, Menstrual Central, during the fall of 2022. This branding project consists of many different pieces to create a brand for their call to action. The non-profit’s main focus was to provide free menstrual products, in public bathrooms, to those who have a period. Their mission is to normalize and educate people about the stigma around periods and the needs of people who have them. The first part of the project consisted of different pieces to create a brand identity, such as a logo, color palette, branding, poster, brochure, box container, and sanitary wipe packaging designs.

Brand Identity

In pursuit of expanding the scope of this project and augmenting its portfolio, the next phase involved the creation of a website. Comprising of five interconnected pages, namely about, products, components, and donate, the primary objective was to spotlight the brand while providing comprehensive information about its mission and endeavors. The homepage was designed to offer a succinct overview of the brand’s activities through a brief narrative and accompanying imagery. Beneath this introductory section, emphasis was placed on showcasing the materials employed by the campaign, while a separate page was dedicated to highlighting the products distributed by the brand at no cost.

THEATER POSTER SERIES

Poster Design

The Last Best Small Town, Student Written Plays, The Lieutenant Nun, Mojada

This project involved the development of a series of poster designs for the CPP theater department, spanning three distinct playwrights over a duration of three months. Each poster was meticulously crafted to encapsulate the thematic essence and narrative intricacies of its respective play.

The first poster of the series utilized monopoly houses as symbolic representations, effectively illustrating the socioeconomic disparities between the main characters. For the second poster, the theme of student-written productions was portrayed through a compelling visual of a person falling asleep at a computer, accompanied by a cleverly misspelled title, capturing the essence of creative exhaustion and the pursuit of artistic expression. In the third poster, a poignant narrative was conveyed through the juxtaposition of a sword and a rosary, symbolizing the journey of a convent escapee who assumed a male identity, participated in warfare, and ultimately attained societal recognition and acceptance. The final poster in the series employed a strand of papel picado to symbolize pivotal elements of the storyline, offering a visually striking representation of the play’s thematic depth.

Throughout the series, careful consideration was given to ensuring alignment with the overarching vision of the theater department, resulting in a cohesive and impactful presentation of diverse theatrical narratives.

A FRACTION: THE

NARRATIVE OF 1 INDIVIDUAL IN A POPULATION OF 8.1 BILLION

Autobiography Book Design

This project entailed the design of a book serving as my autobiography. Within its pages are a compilation of personal photographs and corresponding narratives, chronicling my life journey from the past to the envisioned future. The thematic direction aimed for a clean, structured aesthetic reminiscent of curated social media image collections. Employing a grid-based layout, each page was meticulously arranged to narrate the unfolding story, while carefully curated image groupings were strategically positioned to convey the intended aesthetic narrative of the theme.
