Gender determines how we function in society. Perceptions of professions, capabilities, and identities are predisposed by whether we are assigned “male” or “female” at birth. Where does this leave people who don’t fit into that binary? People who do not perform their assigned gender face consequences. Gender is reinforced through social repercussions, legislation, and violence.
This work aims to refute what is enforced upon us, exploring how through tender intimacy and resilience, the queer community has survived thus far.
