Summary

National and international award-winning graphic designer/art director with over five years of experience. Expertise in higher education design and marketing, publications and branding. Bicultural and bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish in creative environments. Innovative thinker in conceptualization and implementation of integrated strategies and design solutions for print and digital media while surpassing expectations in a deadline-driven environment.

Identity & Branding Campaign The Office for Student Involvement’s (OSI) main focus is to enhance students’ experiences and develop talents with programs that allow them to Be Involved with campus activities and organizations. The purpose of the Be Involved campaign is to showcase the different programs UTPA OSI has to offer. I created pieces that include: identity word marks, poster, rack cards, e-blast, digital media, t-shirt and window decals. Typography, color and graphic elements were used to unify all of the pieces for this campaign.

Branding Campaign The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to maximizing student success through the different offices and programs it oversees. The branding for this office was a challenging project since it is composed of very diversified offices including: Wellness and Recreational Sports Center, The Student Union, Disability Services Office and the Office for Student Involvement, among others. Utilizing a myriad of typography, bright colors and a youth look throughout the pieces were the unifying elements for a highly diverse office. Booklets, brochures, rack cards, interactive digital posters, business cards and window decals were created for the branding campaign.

Greetings Fellow Tech Users! Got Apps!? Sure, we all do. A million of ‘em, thanks to all the busy developers! Any web search will result in many pages of articles and reviews of “Best Apps of 2012” or “Best Apps For (fill in the blank) ”. But, best for what? And best for whom? Who can say what’s best? Probably just the end-user can really say. You have your favorites, I’m sure. Besides Apple’s standard apps, here are just a few that I use regularly. All of these are available in the App Store. Last year was my first year with Favorite Brands. Being that I was new, I didn’t know much about what we carried and what jewels we had hidden in our 100+ page sales book. It didn’t take long before one distinct product came to the forefront of our spirits category. White Owl Whisky… W.O.W.

Coming from a country that is known for producing such world renowned whiskies as the one in the little purple bag, one can’t help but wonder what is in this frosted bottle. But unlike the traditional grainy aromas and taste profile, White Owl flies against the grain of its predecessors. It is as clear as a vodka but with the full flavors of a whisky. Try it blind folded without anyone telling you what you are drinking and you will swear it is a whisky. Mix it, and it is as smooth as any vodka made martini.

Mix and finish off with a celery stick and pickled bean in a salted rim glass.

White Owl will allow mixologists the freedom of blending a whisky in ways never thought of before. Drinks that had been reserved for vodka drinker’s, will now have a twist to them. Apple martini’s, pineapple martini’s, Manhattan’s, now all have the ability to have a new flavor on a traditional drink. It has a sweetness like traditional Canadian whiskies and its color pureness allows it to stand toe to toe with not only whiskies but with its vodka counterparts as well. Never has a whisky created such a buzz.

To get apps into folders, hold down on the app icon until the “wiggle-dance” begins, then drag one icon right on top of another. keep dragging jiggling apps onto that folder. Continue at will. Then, you can drag those folders into whatever order your brain prefers. (Tapping the home button gets you back to normal.) With a combination of single apps and folders on one or two screens you will soon be a quick and efficient iOS Ninja! W W W. RGV M AG . C O M

Higher Education Magazine Ads Magazine advertisements designed for The University of Texas-Pan American have been featured in national and international magazines, such as Hispanic Living and USA Today, among others. The Leading Health Care Education series were created in English and Spanish to introduce the new medical school opening in 2015. “We don’t build rockets, we build the dreams that launch them” is the title for the advertisement created for USA Today-NASA edition.

G U I DE D BY A M I S S ION , P O W E R E D BY DR E A M S . For more than 85 years, The University of Texas-Pan American has harnessed the power to imagine and the courage to invent. Our students have worked with world-renowned engineers to revolutionize nanotechnology. They have touched the stars with the Hubble Telescope and provided important data to NASA. They have studied with some of the country’s most respected mathematicians. And a unique blend of South Texas pride and a relentless desire to achieve has led many to successful careers with NASA and top aerospace firms such as Raytheon, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

Thanks to partners like NASA, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Defense who fund research and support such programs as UTPA’s Center for Excellence in STEM and annual Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology (HESTEC) Week, our students and faculty share a contagious optimism that lets them dream of possibilities. As we look to the future and a new UT university in South Texas – an emerging research institution and medical school that will span the entire Rio Grande Valley – we are more committed than ever to investing in the next generation of visionaries.

Graphic Element, Word Mark & Logo Design Below are some examples of graphic elements and word marks I have created to brand events and offices. The FORTY EIGHT in 48 graphic element was crated to brand an social media fundraising campaign over the course of two days. “Shaping young minds is the tag line I developed for UTPA Child Development Center, the word mark design plays with basic shapes and the verb shaping. The CBEST Economic Forecast Luncheon will inform people on the economy for 2015, how they can use this information to move forward with their projects and utilize the information to think ahead.

Wall Decals The UTPA Office of Marketing and Communications recently relocated; it wanted to have a presence in the building and showcase who it is with wall decals on the hallway and throughout the office. The project was composed of four panels on the main hallway, a wall located in an area dedicated to brainstorm and a separation wall in the graphic design area. The first three panels show the name of the offices housed in the building, the fourth panel has inspirational phrases about creativity, advertising and public relations. Each of these walls were strategically designed to represent its respective area.
