Anthony has responded that some of his critics are motivated by anti-LGBTQ+ bias and that the incident was harmless.
In the video, posted by the Wisenuts podcast, Mayor Anthony is seen being spanked by a drag artist, backed by the Village People’s “Macho Man.” Anthony described the events as “shenanigans” and emphasized that it was

The ‘Toonerville Funhouse,’ originally located at Ocean Park Pier and Pacific Ocean Park amusement parks, is inspiration for the newest attraction inside Pacific Park
SANTA MONICA, Calif., (September 10, 2025) --- Guests to the all-new “Funhouse at Pacific Park” will explore a lost world of spooky, chilling, and haunting experiences.
The legendary “Toonerville Funhouse” appeared in two eras of Santa Monica amusement history – first at Ocean Park Pier in the 1920s and later at Pacific Ocean Park in 1958 – thrilling and unnerving guests for decades. Hidden away for years, its spirit has been resurrected inside Pacific Park on
the Santa Monica Pier. Over time, storms and renovations buried its memory, until the entrance to the abandoned funhouse was mysteriously uncovered inside Pacific Park. With a little polishing, it has reopened for guests as a nod to local Santa Monica history and nostalgic fun.
In all the tinkering and perfecting of the 'Funhouse at Pacific Park,' the sinister magic of coin-operated fortunetellers and the eerie presence of a dessert-wielding clown have once again been unleashed. With a sidelong glance, an animatronic fortuneteller seated inside its dusty glass cabinet lures unsuspecting guests into a dizzying adventure—one that may land them in the back of Sprinkles the Clown's ice cream truck freezer. Will guests make it out unscathed, or will they be lost in this labyrinth of curiosities for another 100 years?
The 2,800-square-foot “Funhouse at Pacific Park” includes nine mysterious rooms and attractions designed to disorient, amuse and entertain visitors with optical illusions,
tricky layouts, and unexpected surprises. From giant ice cream cones to disorienting mazes, the Funhouse offers a buffet for the senses full of unexpected twists and turns.
"Pacific Park is excited to bring a fresh take on a classic idea to the millions of visitors who enjoy the Pier each year," said Nathan Smithson, Senior Director of Business Affairs at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. "This is a unique opportunity to honor the legacy of the original Toonerville Funhouses while crafting a future filled with mystery and awe in the all-new Funhouse at Pacific Park."
The “Toonerville Funhouses” were whimsical, cartoon-themed attractions inspired by the popular "Toonerville Trolley" comic strip, which was widely recognized in the early 20th century. The first version opened at Ocean Park Pier in the 1920s, while a second debuted in 1958 at Pacific Ocean Park, which replaced Ocean Park Pier on the same site at the end of Ocean Park Boulevard, just about two nautical miles south of today’s Pacific Park, near the Santa
Monica–Venice border. Both became icons of seaside amusement before disappearing in the 1970s.
SC Holdings, an investment firm with extensive experience in the consumer, entertainment, and hospitality sectors, acquired the operating group of Pacific Park in 2024 and committed $10 million in capital investments over the next five years in Pacific Park’s food and entertainment programs, supporting park operations and keeping it a fun and friendly destination for tourists, families, and the community.
Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, LA’s only admission-free amusement park, offers 12 amusement rides, 14 midway games, Snackville with five fun food offerings and retail beach shops. Pacific Park’s signature rides include the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel, the Pacific Wheel, and the West Coaster, a steel roller coaster that races 55 feet above the Santa Monica Bay. For additional information and hours of operation, call 310-260-8744, visit pacpark. com, and go to Facebook.com/pacificpark, Instagram.com/pacpark or X.com/pacpark.

But wait, here’s the great news. George Romero’s daughter, Tina Romero, has created a new and gore-gous Living Dead tale for the new millennium and our new world, where queerness is to be celebrated and LGBTQ+ people will fight to survive the zombie apocalypse.
You can watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/A_ gUjCvASN4?si=DxiQeowSrm7b5s72

and Erin Judge, with Romero taking the directorial helm in her debut feature film. It stars Katy O’Brian, Jaquel Spivey, Tomas Matos, Nina West, Quincy Dunn-Baker, Jack Haven, Cheyenne Jackson, Dominique Jackson, Margaret Cho, Riki Lindhome, Eve Lindley, Becca Blackwell, Shaunette Renée Wilson, and Julie J.

Oct 5, 2025, at 6:00 pm at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, sponsored by NEON. Screening courtesy of Independent Film Company. Tina Romero will be there to introduce the film and take part in a Q&A after the film with actors Nina West and Riki Lindhome. You can purchase tickets here.
The Transgender Film Center and Duplass Brothers Productions on Wednesday unveiled the Found Footage Feature Fund, a $25,000 production grant that will fully finance one micro-budget feature by a trans filmmaker.
The initiative, announced at Fantastic Fest, requires the selected project to be completed
within one year of funding and does not involve additional development deals.

The program welcomes all genres that leverage economical storytelling methods— such as found footage, archival, and collage techniques. Applications open October 23 and close November 7, with a grantee to be named in December, as reported by Variety.
“Sav Rodgers and I became friendly over the past few years, and once I discovered the incredible work he’s been doing with the Transgender Film Center, I just knew that Duplass Brothers had to find a way to support and get involved,” Mark Duplass
said. “I’m so thrilled to bring our microbudget found footage experience, and some of my ‘The Morning Show’ cash, to the table and see what we can do together.”, as quoted by Variety.
Beyond the cash award, the package includes private consultations with Mark Duplass and Creep director Patrick Brice; submission waivers to select festivals through the Transgender Film Center; two script consultations from Kevin Nicklaus (partner at Sandstone Artists and former SVP of development at The Wolper Organization); 15 days of post-production services from Aesthetica Post; a marketing and pitch-deck strategy session; and ongoing email support.

Concerns about delivery robot safety have arisen in West Hollywood after a viral video showed a man with cerebral palsy repeatedly struck and blocked by one of the autonomous machines while using a mobility scooter.
The incident occurred on Sept. 12 near the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station as local therapist and disability advocate Mark Chaney-Gay was returning home from a medical procedure. Chaney-Gay said the delivery robot swerved toward him multiple times, forcing him to stop and attempt to maneuver around it.
Footage posted online shows the robot bumping into Chaney-Gay’s scooter and cutting off his path as he tries to pass along the sidewalk. The video has spread widely on social media, drawing attention to potential accessibility and safety concerns posed by autonomous delivery devices.

Days after a pre-dawn brawl in West Hollywood, a 20-year-old woman stabbed during the melee has died, her family said. She has been identified by authorities as Maritza Gonzalez Solis.
The fight erupted between 3:00 and 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, near San Vicente and Robertson boulevards, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators estimate 20 to 30 people were involved. What caused the confrontation, initially described as a dispute between two women, remains under review.
Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition; relatives later confirmed she did not survive. Family members described her as the youngest of four children and the only daughter of Cecilia Solis and Armando Gonzalez. Authorities have not said whether she was a participant in the fight or was caught in the chaos.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help her family with her funeral expenses. The family said, “Maritza was known for her generous spirit and her unwavering positivity. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, and her warmth touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her life was tragically cut short in a violent attack, leaving her family and community devastated and heartbroken.”
Deputies arrested a man in connection
with the stabbing. He was released after county prosecutors declined to immediately file charges and returned the case to detectives for further investigation, LASD said. The man is cooperating with authorities.
Detectives are reviewing cellphone video and interviewing witnesses. It was
not immediately clear whether additional suspects are being sought.

Graffiti containing vile hate speech and threats against the LGBTQ+ community was discovered outside the Long Beach Pride office building, prompting swift condemnation from Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and local LGBTQ+ leaders.
Long Beach Pride President released a statement on Instagram, which said, “This is deeply concerning. Acts of hate are not something we expect to see in our own front yard, in a city like ours—one where we have fought for decades to be seen, accepted, and embraced as equal members of this community.
We must remember: Pride began as
a protest. It has never only been about parades and celebrations—it is about standing up for our right to live openly and fully, to share in all the privileges and freedoms that every American deserves. And we will continue to prevail.”
Hahn called Long Beach Pride President Tonya Martin on Thursday morning to offer support and announced she would provide $2,500 in county funding to help the organization upgrade and expand its security camera system. Martin, who also serves as Hahn’s appointee to the Los Angeles County LGBTQ Commission, has been working with law enforcement to ensure the safety of the organization and its members.
“This was not just vandalism—it was a threat meant to terrorize the LGBTQ community,” said Supervisor Hahn. “Long Beach Pride has been a beacon of love and acceptance for decades, and it is devastating to see them targeted with this kind of hate.
My hope is that these security upgrades will give staff, volunteers, and community members peace of mind as they continue their important work. These are dark times, and it can feel like we are losing ground in the fight for equality. But I want every LGBTQ person in Long Beach and across LA County to know this: you are not alone, you are valued, and we will stand shoulder to shoulder with you to confront this hate.”
Long Beach Pride, which has been a cornerstone of the region’s LGBTQ+ community for decades, is working closely with the Long Beach Police Department as they investigate the incident.
Martin added, “I want to be clear: we do not respond with fear or hate toward those who commit such acts. Instead, we hold them in love, trusting that love has the power to dissolve the fear and ignorance that fuels hatred. We ask our community to join us in this spirit—because only love can drive out fear.”
Authorities have not released details about potential suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Long Beach Police Department.
