Fire Department Regional Emergency Communications Center

In 2021, SFCFD responded to 8,781 calls for emergency services.
Emergency response capabilities were expanded with the addition of a volunteer ambulance.
15 firefighters were promoted to the rank of Engineer and three firefighters were promoted to Lieutenant.
Three firefighters completed paramedic training.
A smoke alarm program was developed to provide alarms and education to County residents. In 2021, the Adult Detention Center booked 4,789 detainees into the facility.
Improvements were made to the facility in 2021, including:
Over 100 food/cuff ports installed on existing cell doors
Completion of the Lighting Protection project safeguarding all electrical equipment in the facility
Upgrades and improvements were made to the kitchen Master Control was remodeled and upgraded.
The RECC receives all police, fire, medical, and animal control emergency 911 and nonemergency calls for the City and County of Santa Fe and dispatches responders as needed.

DWI Prevention Teen Court Wildland Fire
The goal of the DWI program is to reduce death and injury due to DWI. This is accomplished in a wide variety of ways. In 2021:
• U/A drug testing was established, including a web app and Spanish and
ASL interpretive services.
• An IR 8000 intoxilyzer (breath alcohol tester) was purchased for Santa
Fe City Police and other equipment for tribal agencies.
• A targeted public outreach campaign with eyecatching anti-DWI messaging was launched.
• The program hosted a quarterly Law
Enforcement Task Force event to foster collaboration and joint operations. The goal of the Teen Court program is to interrupt developing patterns of criminal behavior by promoting feelings of self-esteem, motivation for selfimprovement, and a healthy attitude toward authority.
In 2021, Teen Court served 326 clients and their families, offering:
• Immediate counseling services
• Drug testing
• Restorative Justice
• Substance use education
• And, in-school programming The Wildland Division is responsible for wildland fire suppression, readiness, and response and reducing the threat of a catastrophic wildland fire in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) through prevention efforts such as public education and hazardous fuels mitigation.
The fire department takes every precaution to help protect residents and property from wildland fire. However, in a major wildland fire, there will simply not be enough firefighters to defend every home The Santa Fe Ready, Set, Go Personal Wildfire Action Plan helps residents create a personal wildfire action plan.
