The Board of County Commissioners approved the Redistricting Ordinance

(2021-07) in November 2021.

Based on the 2020 Census Redistricting Data, the GIS division generated an analysis of population changes since the 2010 Census, and produced a series of options to adjust the Commission Districts to accommodate the changes in population and ensure that the population of Santa Fe County was equally divided among the five Commission Districts, and every resident was assured of “one person, one vote.”

Projectmates

In 2021, the Public Works department began implementation of ProjectMates, a construction and project management software. The system provides tools to manage all costs documents, workflow, and schedules. Implementation is a combined effort between Finance, IT, Planning, Procurement, and Public Works. The capital planning process will be enhanced by the analytics and reports available in ProjectMates, as well as the alignment with the County’s Strategic Plan. ProjectMates also improves financial accountability and transparency.

Over 30 staff members collaborated to review current processes and identify potential efficiency improvements. The Steering Committee and larger Implementation Team are currently working on a test project in ProjectMates and another team is defining data mapping.

Human Resources

Human Resources successfully negotiated full contracts with five of six bargaining units in the County including IAFF, AFSCME 1413-M, AFSCME 1413, RECC and NMSCPSO. Labor relations are critical to County operations and increase the economic strength of unions and management.

HR completed and distributed the 2021 Total Compensation Report to all employees, providing information on Actual Realized Income.

Completion of the ACA tracking and reporting process is a necessary compliance requirement for self-insured organizations.

In 2021, 537 positions were posted, 2,727 applications were reviewed, 107 new staff members were hired and on-boarded.
