PRINCIPLES OF NURSING PRACTICE AND SIMPLE 4.5 units CONCEPTS LAB This clinical course applies the concepts of NRN 171 within the four domains of Person, Health and Illness, Environment, and Nursing. Emphasis is placed on the concepts within each domain including: elimination, metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance, perfusion, inflammation, infection, mobility, cognition, oxygenation, tissue integrity, comfort, emergencies, safety and infection control, diversity, health promotion, communication, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning/judgment, healthcare system, ethics, and clinical competency. Emphasis is placed on the concepts within each domain including:physical growth and development, psychosocial development, cognitive development, metabolism, cellular regulation, perfusion, reproduction, infection, comfort, emergencies, oxygenation, inflammation, safety and infection control, diversity, health promotion, communication, professional behaviors, clinical reasoning/judgment, and ethics. Upon completion, students should be able to differentiate safe nursing care incorporating the concepts discussed in this Family Health and Illness Concepts course.
