DEXIS IS ScanFlow
Crown and bridge DEXIS IS ScanFlow
Navigate to the “Preparation” workflow. This will allow the user to capture a common scan of the tooth/teeth that will be restored.
The common scan can be used as a before image or guide to design the restoration(s).
Bite registration DEXIS IS ScanFlow
Capture the upper and lower arch (full or half) then capture the bite.

Up to five separate bite positions can be saved and the names of each customized.
An STL file of each bite registration can be engaged in the preferences and supplied if desired. Each file will contain the area captured when scanning the bite registration and is extra to the digital arches that will be sent.
Scan preps & mark margins
DEXIS IS ScanFlow
Capture the upper and lower arch (full or half) then engage the “mark the margin tool” in the check step (‘Auto Margin Line’ or ‘Manual Margin Line’).
If you have exocad or another 3rd party design software, download the PLY file for the case and use the marked margin in the design software. Be sure to highlight all files when importing into design. 1 3

You will be able to see the marked margin in IS Connect using the ‘Case Preview’ DEXIS IS Web Viewer button.
Edentulous scanning
DEXIS IS ScanFlow
Edentulous scanning will need to be done with full/partial denture workflows and crown/implant bridge workflows that contain a cantilever or normal pontic(s).
Tips:
• Make sure enough tissue is captured to allow for the restoration to fit correctly
• If starting a Denture Scan Workflow without an existing denture, make sure to capture the space and midline needed for applying teeth in the common scan
• Extra bite registration can help with this if not captured in the common scan
• Possible options for positioning would be to use wax, impression material, bite block or a positioning gauge
