Manufacturing Inspiration SANNZ Journal #02 || 2015 This was a difficult one. The DESIGN process is one of those elusive things that seems to slip through your fingertips. Like water through your hands, it is one of the ongoing challenges in the creative disciplines. These processes vary on the person and the medium they so choose to engage with. This is the theme of the second SANNZ journal. To provide insight and inspiration on the varying processes that students of
architecture engage in. It aims to be both interesting, INFORMATIVE, and inspiring all in one go. Like last time the amount of submissions were substantial, albeit overwhelming, so we couldn’t possibly put in everything in this one. That doesn’t mean they won’t see the light of day, but may have potential for the next issue, the last one for the year.
For the selected submissions though, there was everything from drawing and model making, digital to physical, workplaces and that jet-fuel you’ve been drinking since
first year that keeps you awake and going after 48-HOURS of straight work in studio. Going through it all, there was that search for that “overall feel” and flow, and what type of look would best represent the theme chosen and the submissions selected. Luckily the submissions themselves provided the much needed INSPIRATION for the overall look and feel of this second journal. Readers will find that they will see their own process in this journal, and hopefully find new ways of working and be
inspired in their own work. A DEFINED PROCESS on manufacturing your work is a massive asset in anyone’s career, and this journal will try to provide that.
