Ayurvedic treatment for retinitis pigmentosa has two stages. Virechan, Nasya, Snehpana, Shirodhara, Netradhara, and Tharpana are among the purifying therapies used in the initial stage.
The second stage involves using renewing Rasayana drugs to keep the retina and optic nerves healthy.
Retinitis Pigmentosa is one of those hereditary eye diseases, which can be treated with Ayurveda. However, if it is not addressed quickly, then the individual may lose vision. It is a rare disease and usually affects both the eyes simultaneously.
However, in some cases, the intensity of it might be more on one eye than the other. There are several forms of Retinitis Pigmentosa, but the common stage in all of them is the gradual degeneration of the retina. The disease mainly affects the photoreceptors of the eye.
