Sparkling with virtuosic singing and playful humor, Donizetti’s boisterous comedy pits the miserly Don Pasquale against his nephew Ernesto and Ernesto’s sweetheart, the crafty young widow Norina. Moments of romantic sweetness punctuate the farcical fun as Norina schemes to embarrass Don Pasquale and marry Ernesto. Known for “refreshing every role he touches” (The New Yorker), American tenor Lawrence Brownlee makes his long-awaited Company debut alongside the always dazzling Heidi Stober and charismatic Lucas Meachem. Italian bass Maurizio Muraro brings his comedic genius to the title role in Laurent Pelly’s fanciful production. Giuseppe Finzi conducts.
