Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today to welcome the new Sandwich zine!
We’re kicking things off in the Edibles section with warm bread from Panino at San Antonio a locally made loaf by my friend Sofia It’s comforting, it’s golden, and yes, you can learn more (and how to get your hands on it) on the next page
The book for the season is Where Are You, Beautiful World? by Sally Rooney It’s set in Ireland, so naturally, I found myself imagining cool beach days along the Irish coast It’s a novel that lingers
In the Ornamentation section, I wanted to keep things budget-friendly So I put together a guide on how to decorate with vinyl records tastefully, practically, and without spending much Fall also happens to be birthday season in my world, so I included a little gift guide on page 14.
This month’s featured artist is efedefroy an illustrator I’ve admired for a while. I finally got to see their work in person in San Antonio, and I’ve included some snapshots from the visit. You can learn more about them on page 17.
My long-standing obsession is CLUBZ, an alt-pop band from Monterrey you need on your radar. I saw them in the valley and it was a fabulous time
Finally, in the Archives section, I’ve included a gem from 2020: Camila by DI an emerging Mexican artist whose music feels like a late-night secret
With love,
Andrea Alemán Editorial Director
EDIBLES
If you’re in the San Antonio area and looking for some seriously good bread, you’ve got to check out Panino It’s a small-batch, artisanal bread made with love by my friend Sofia and it’s absolutely delicious!
Not only is it fresh and full of flavor, but it’s also made with simple, wholesome ingredients you can actually feel good about Supporting Panino means supporting a local maker who puts care into every loaf and that’s something big grocery stores just can’t match So next time you ' re craving a good slice (or two), skip the store-bought stuff and give Panino a try.

Introspective, emotionally sharp, and full of quiet, complicated relationships. The story centers on two best friends, Alice (a successful but burned-out novelist) and Eileen (an editor stuck in emotional limbo), who are living in different cities and trying to figure out their personal and romantic lives They write long, philosophical emails to each other about everything climate change, beauty, religion, capitalism, love all while dealing with their own messy relationships with two men, Felix and Simon. This book is all about feelings, conversations, and that weird that stage of adulthood where you’re still figuring out what happiness looks like and whether the world is falling apart or not (spoiler alert it is!)
I read this book a few years ago and it still lingers in my mind I highly recommend it The email chapters can be a bit dense so take your time with them but they’re rich and thought-provoking and definitely worth the read
Do you have vinyls at home? Of course you do you’re a zillennial! So let’s talk about how to decorate with them without making your place look like a record store I’ve seen those Pinterest pics where people stick 6 to 10 vinyls on the wall, and it starts to feel like I should be looking for the checkout counter. But used the right way, vinyls can be such a cool (and affordable!) way to decorate. Go to a thrift store and you can probably find some for a dollar each perfect for a budget-friendly project So here are a few fun ideas I’d use to decorate with vinyls let’s make your space look curated, not commercial
“now playing” display
One easy option is to pop a record maybe the one you’re currently playing on a stand Keeping it simple really lets the album art shine Plus, it’s super easy to swap out with the seasons or whenever you’re feeling like a change And if you’re someone who actually plays vinyls daily, it’s a great way to make sure the sleeve doesn’t get lost somewhere in the house.
Another fun idea: pick a few records you’re not planning to play and frame them A single vinyl on its own feels really minimal and clean it adds contrast if you’ve got a bunch of records stacked elsewhere It’s not as visually loud as a full album cover, just that simple black circle (or even better, a colored one!). Just make sure it’s a record you don’t mind not listening to once it’s framed, it’s staying framed. This is where those $1 thrift store finds come in handy Even cooler if you find ones with cool names or fun colors!
Kind of like Option 1, this one also displays just a single vinyl at a time but with a cooler stand You can keep a few of your faves nearby and rotate them out whenever you feel like switching up your music selection It’s a great option if you want to store the rest of your collection somewhere out of sight (like in the setup from the image above). Honestly, I’ve been eyeing one of these stands myself, especially this one from Upton super sleek and in a fun color
This one’s all about treating your vinyls like art These unique frames (I think they were from Urban Outfitters, though it looks like they’re no longer available) really elevate the look and make the records feel like a cohesive set I love how the frame design ties everything together. You could totally DIY this just grab some frames and paint them in colors or patterns that complement your vinyls. I’d still keep it pretty minimal, though no need to go full gallery wall with 10 of them A few well-placed pieces will make a much bigger impact
I don’t know about you, but I swear half of my loved ones were born between September and February Fall and winter birthdays, holiday parties, Secret Santas it adds up fast! So I figured I’d put together a little gift guide partly to help you, mostly to help me get some ideas These picks are all cool, thoughtful, and not too overdone You can straight up buy them as-is or use them as inspo to find something similar

efedefroy is a talented Mexican artist known for blending vibrant colors with bold, modern designs. His work effortlessly mixes cultural vibes with contemporary flair, making each piece feel fresh and full of personality Whether it’s street art, illustrations, or digital creations, efedefroy’s style brings energy and a unique touch that’s impossible to ignore
I’ve been following efedefroy for years, and I actually got the chance to see their art in San Antonio it was surreal They’re a true inspiration to me You all know I love collage art, so seeing how efedefroy blends Mexican pop icons with traditional American media was absolutely astonishing. Their work is a perfect mix of bold, vibrant energy, and cultural representation
If you’ve ever wished 80s synths, French Touch, and soft disco could all live in one band CLUBZ is it Formed by Coco Santos and Orlando Fernández in Monterrey, this duo is reshaping the sound of Latin alternative pop
Their latest project feels like a love letter to retrofuturism: polished, playful, and full of atmosphere. Tracks like Cortes Modernos are cinematic and intimate all at once perfect for late-night drives or neon-lit dance floors and honestly, I can’t stop listening
