Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions

WELCOME

Dear colleague,

Welcome to this first issue of our business area newsletter Our SRP 2025. Though it’s the first issue of this year we have already almost a whole quarter behind us. Time flies as they say.

In this newsletter you can read about some of the activities we’ve been busy with lately. Personally, I had the opportunity to visit our teams and customers in China – a truly insightful trip reinforcing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.

During my visit, I toured our product units for both crushing and screening, and witnessed firsthand the dedication and expertise that go into delivering premium solutions. I also had the privilege of meeting our customers, and discuss how our equipment and services help them maximize productivity and efficiency. A huge thank you to our local teams for their outstanding organization and commitment.

Safety reminder

In January, SRP managed to achieve zero TRI/LTI, which is impressive, especially since the start of the year, right after vacation, usually comes with a higher risk of incidents. Unfortunately, in February, we had 5 TRI and 1 LTI, which led to an increase in both TRIFR and LTIFR. Every incident is one too many, and this reminds us to always take care of our own health and safety, as well as that of our colleagues. On a positive note, we improved the Hazardous close-out ratio in February, which is great! Let’s keep working towards our 95% target.

Silent period and Q1 report

We will soon enter the so called “silent period” leading up to the release of Sandvik’s quarter 1 report on April 16. I will then share SRPs results with you in my Words from the President, and we will also invite you to a webinar on April 22, to share the performance and answer any questions that you may have. Stay tuned for the invitation on the intranet!

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy our latest Our SRP magazine. I, for one, always enjoy reading about our many activities, and I’m grateful to everyone for sharing them so we can all celebrate SRP’s achievements together.

Stay safe!

Mobiles Division 2 years LTI free

In February, Mobiles Division celebrated two years without any lost time incidents. We are also pleased to share that LTIFR, TRIFR & AIFR are the lowest they have been in over 15 years. This positive change has come from a number of initiatives that have been implemented across the division including:

• EHS Leadership Behaviours

• Safety Recognition Scheme

• Incident Investigation Improvement Project

• Lunch of Safety Observations / Planned Task Observations

• EHS Annual Plan

• Availability of EHS360 for all employees lead to increased Hazard reporting and a better spread

• Health & Wellbeing Engagement across the division

• Safety Shares of Incidents, Near Misses & Other Learnings

• Support of External Audit Partners and agencies e.g. ISO Auditors, Global EHS, FM Global, HSENI etc.

A huge thank you to everyone across the division who continues to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

New safey initiatives at ATD in Cleveland

Safety walks: Increased management participation

To ensure a safer work environment, our management team is now actively driving weekly safety walks. These walks help identify potential hazards, foster transparency, and improve overall safety awareness. By staying proactive, we’re reinforcing our commitment to the well-being of our team.

Lifting safety: Addressing one of our biggest risks

Heavy lifting remains one of the most significant risks at our facility. To mitigate potential injuries, we’ve implemented quarterly lifting and rigging training led by a certified third-party provider. This comprehensive four-hour training covers proper lifting techniques, the use of chains and slings, and safe rigging practices—essential for handling heavy equipment like our 12,000 lb. hammers.

New paint booth: Improved efficiency & compliance

We’ve successfully completed all mandatory regulations for our new paint booth, replacing the temporary one previously in place. We’re now in the final stages of filing for legal compliance, allowing us to use advanced paint materials that improve quality, turnaround time, and drying efficiency. This upgrade not only enhances the final product but also streamlines shipping, benefiting both our employees and our dealers.

Ongoing priority

Safety is an ongoing priority, and we appreciate everyone’s commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace!

Renewable energy procurement program in China

Sandvik Fengxian site (China) has a clear commitment as regards CO2 reduction and promises to halve the CO2 emissions before 2030 by following the group targets on CO2 reduction.

Successful practice

In March of 2024, we learnt that there had been successful practice in SMR PU Wuxi where the Wuxi plant purchased renewable energy in the local market. Then we started to investigate the possibility of purchasing renewable energy in the local market of Shanghai city, as we found that the progress regarding installation of roof solar panel system goes very slowly, so we need a new path as short-term solution.

With support from SMR PU Wuxi and Sandvik Energy Advisory Group in Aug. of 2024 , it was aligned to purchase renewable energy from the potential market with authorized certificates. In October we successfully purchased 27MWH renewable energy, which equals a reduction of 16.8t CO2 emissions, and in November we purchased 50.870MWH which equals a reduction of 31.7 t CO2 emission.

In 2025, we plan to purchase more renewable energy and at the same time we will continue to investigate the possibility to install roof solar panels together with colleagues in the BA and our divisions. This is one way to do what we say, to reduce CO2 emissions. More information: mike.wu@sandvik.com

Blood donation camp at SRP foundry Vadodara

In view of Road Safety Month in January, we combined the theme of safety with a life-saving initiative by organizing a blood donation camp at SRP Foundry Vadodara. The event saw an overwhelming response from the employees with over 75 donors participating.

The event was well-coordinated by a team of dedicated volunteers and throughout the day, medical professionals from Indian Red Cross Society were present to conduct health screenings and ensure the safety of all participants.

The highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of young donors, many of whom were first-time donors. Their willingness to contribute to the community’s well-being was truly inspiring. The blood will be used to support patients in need of transfusions, surgeries, and other medical treatments.

Thank you to all the donors, volunteers, and medical staff who made this event possible. Together, we have made a significant impact and demonstrated our collective responsibility toward building a safer and healthier community. More information: anupriya.desai@sandvik.com

Mobiles Division has a new UK office

Mobiles Swadlincote team recently moved to a new location at Bretby Business Park, Derbyshire. This is shared with colleagues of Sandvik Mining and Construction UK.

With hybrid working being a much more common and popular practice in today’s business climate, the former office in Swadlincote was deemed too large for the current capacity and a suitably sized, more sustainable office was sourced to accommodate both Mobiles Division

and SMC UK. The new office is within 10 minutes’ drive of Swadlincote and allows flexible working enabling employees to book a hot desk when required. Employees have settled into their new office and can enjoy a walk around the business park to get some exercise and fresh air during their lunchtimes.

The new address is: Suite G11 & G12, Repton House, Bretby Business Park, Ashby Road, Burton Upon Trent, DE15 0YZ.

New President Attachment Tools Division

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Bjorne to the role of President Attachment Tools Division, Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions, effective April 1 2025. Screening Solutions Division is strategically focused on expanding its Aftermarket Screening Media sales by leveraging significant global growth opportunities. Over time, aftermarket consumables revenue can exceed the original equipment value while delivering higher profit margins.

To further drive growth, SRP is also expanding product expertise and manufacturing capability in key regions, ensuring that sales teams are equipped to meet customer needs efficiently.

Success

in the Australian Pilbara region

The SRP Australian sales team recently delivered outstanding results in a screening trial for a major iron ore customer in the Pilbara region.

Although this customer transitioned away from SRP in 2015, the sales team maintained a strong partnership by providing continued support in Vibrating Screen, Service, and Screen Media solutions. This relationship led to a large-scale trial of SM3682M Multislope banana screens in a demanding iron ore, dry screening application.

The customer had been facing repeated failures due to the incumbent screen media supplier’s fixing system, leading to high wear rates, stockpile contamination, and costly downtime for panel replacements. These challenges not only increased maintenance costs but also risked millions in lost production revenue.

Strategic growth in aftermarket screening media sales

Game-changing solution

By introducing SRP’s screening media including Heavy Duty Screen Media, 60 Duro Fire Retardant Rubber (PF6) and Heavy Duty Knock Through (HDK) fixing system, the team delivered a game-changing solution. The trial demonstrated longer service life, zero failures, and a 25% reduction in panel replacements and maintenance work—exceeding the customer’s expectations and eliminating key operational pain points.

Following the trial’s success, the Screen Media team is poised to secure sales for up to 11 machines. This achievement reinforces SRP’s reputation for high-quality products, deep technical expertise, and a commitment to innovation, highlighting the team’s ability to develop strong customer relationships and capitalize on key opportunities.

This initiative aligns with the Harvest segment of Screening Solutions’ Grow, Harvest, Innovate strategy, which emphasizes maximizing revenue from installed equipment. More information: morgan.vine@sandvik.com

Strategic expansion: Strengthened presence at Vale Carajás

In January of this year, Sandvik Rock Processing successfully concluded the sale of four Sandvik CS660 crushers for the secondary crushing stage at Vale’s Carajás Mine in Brazil, the world’s largest open-pit iron ore mine. These new units will replace three aging Allis Chalmers 84” crushers, bringing enhanced reliability, efficiency, and reduced maintenance costs to the operation.

This sale represents a highly strategic achievement, solidifying SRP’s presence within this key customer. With this addition, a total of 13 Sandvik crushers will be in operation at the site, including four CJ815, four CH860i, four CS660, and one CH890. This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering high-performance solutions to the mining industry. More information: cristiane.fontes@ sandvik.com
