INTRO DUC TION TO DESIGN Intro to Design is a module that teaches future architects to express their creativity into a functional work of art. As designs require both function and creativity, architecture allows us to design buildings which houses people and communities while serving many functions.

IDENTIFY & DESCRIBE Assignment 1 To identify and describe design elements, principles and compositions.

To create visual notes to understand design conventions To apply design elements, principles and compositions in our future assignments.

VISUAL NOTES

We were to do an in-depth research on design elements, principles and compositions in order to create visual notes to help us remember better.

The objective of the notes also intends to allow us to practice presenting visual information by arrangement and killer visuals.

LOGO DESIGN According to what we have learned, we were to come up with a logo design for our imaginary design company based on design elements, principles and elements.

We were also required to choose a geometrical shape to manipulate by methods of repetition, rotation, reflection, and translation.

DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL 01 ( DPJ ) the DPJ intends to help us make visual notes based on our research on our second assignment, which is to make an artwork based on a jewelry brand.

The jewelry brand that I was assigned to is Van Cleef and Arpels. Hence, the DPJ 01 is a journal to write our findings on the brand and the designs they create.

VAN CLEEF AND ARPELS Van Cleef & Arpels is a renowned French jewelry brand that was founded in 1906

by Alfred Van Cleef and Estelle Arpel.

Their union of love is what brought the brand to life and their beautiful designs reflects their philosophy of Love, Luck and Lust.

T-SHIRT DESIGN Based on our research on our brand, we were to come up with a Tshirt design that represents our brand.

The shirt should reflect the brand with designs inspired by their line of jewelry.

ASSIGNMENT 02 The ARTWORK REPRESENTS THE STORY OF LOVE BETWEEN ALFRED VAN CLEEF AND ESTELLE ARPEL WHICH IS THE MAIN CONCEPT FOR THR BRANDS DESIGN. BASED ON THEIR SERTI MYSTERIEUX TECHNIQUE, MY GROUP AND I CAME UP WITHA SEAMLESS DESIGN THAT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE IT IS FLOATING. THE INSPIRATION IS TAKEN FROM A BLOSSOMING OF A FLOWER AS WELL AS THE DISPERSING OF FLOWER PETALS WHILE MAINTAINING AN ASSYMETRICAL AND ELEGANT DESIGN.

DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL 02 ( DPJ ) the second design process journal is to help us carry out further in-depth research on our brand as well as research on jewelry display sets. Our next assignment is to create a jewelry display set based on our brand and a choosen concept.

JEWELRY DISPLAY SETS The jewelry display sets has to reflect our given brand and shows of our choosen collection. The jewelry display set must also feature 3-5 pieces of jewelry and have certain dimensions requirement.

LE TRESOR

ASSIGNMENT 3 My display set is based on the concept of Metamorphosis which means a beautiful transformation in french. Van Cleef and Arpel incorporates metamorphosis into the designs by creating jewelry that can have multiple functions, hidden meanings or can be transformed into a different piece of jewery.

Hence, my display set featured the Le secret collection. The display set itself can be transformed by spinning the middle part of the backing. It also has secret / hidden drawer which pops out to show off a beautiful necklace as well as turning flaps that opens up to reveal a hidden pair of earrings.

INTRO DUC TION

TO DRAWING

Intro to Drawing is a module that teaches drawing conventions and building materials. It also teaches us future architects the importance of different line weights and neat line work.

DRAWING OF A BASIC SPACE For this assignment, we were assigned to draw the plan view, horizontal and vertical elevations, section and furniture details.

We were assigned the space, D8 and worked together to measure the entire space.

DESIGNING A CHALET

For this assignment, we re-visited Janda Baik to do a site visit. We measured our site to draw the site plan.

Based on the site, a proposed site plan, floor plan, 2 elevations and 2 section drawings were drawn.

CONCLUSION Semester 2 ended with a bang. By bang, I mean, Bang Im dead.

However, this semester was filled with many newfound knowledge and experiences. It has also pushed me to be better and to never give up even when times are tough.
