The Gentle Art of Jiu-jitsu
Jiu-jitsu is also known as “the gentle art”. It is called that not because the people who practice it are gentle or weak, but because it is an art form that is based in technique rather than strength, speed or athleticism. People from all walks of life can gain something from Jiu-jitsu, and there is much to gain from practicing the martial art. Jiu-jitsu not only shapes the body, but the mind and spirit as well. The implications it has to better mental health are enormous and is the number one reason our students continue to show up on the mats.
If increasing your confidence, fitness, mental toughness, emotional stability and spiritual connection is something you want, Jiu-jitsu is for you. There are countless testimonials to its life-healing abilities, and all you have to do is show up! We promise that if you show up and continue to do so, you will get better at Jiu-jitsu and in return it will improve your life.

We have a Women’s Only class that builds confidence and focuses on fundamentals of Jiu-jitsu. We have a Combat Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responder’s class to honor those that serve by emphasizing mental and physical health. Finally we have our regular Jiu-jitsu class that covers the broad spectrum of Jiu-jitsu itself. Visit SBAPonderay.com for more information. We hope to see you on the mats!
