His evolving folk, rock and soul-infused sound has lately shaded into country, gospel, classical and even hip-hop colors. Touring for his latest album, Spirit, Amos Lee has a voice that speaks of the heartland and embraces the exciting possibilities of America in all of its cultures.

MONK’estra Our Thursday Night Jazz finale features the MONK’estra, a killer contemporary big band that pays a loving centennial tribute to the music of Thelonious Monk while infusing it with contemporary harmonies, unstoppable grooves and a contagious sense of fun. Concert opens with a set from San Diego’s own homegrown jazz piano genius, Joshua White.

Angélique Kidjo One of the most compelling voices on today’s world music scene belongs to Benin’s Angélique Kidjo. Called “Africa’s premier diva” by Time magazine, Ms. Kidjo has blazed a brilliant career path, winning multiple Grammys® and collaborating with Herbie Hancock, Dave Matthews, Peter Gabriel and Josh Groban. Combining the joyous traditions of Afro-Pop with her own distinctive interpretations of rock and soul classics, Angélique Kidjo is a powerful performer you won’t soon forget!

Boléro by the Bay The ultimate classical pops experience: Associate Conductor Sameer Patel leads an exciting performance of Maurice Ravel’s famously seductive Boléro by the San Diego Symphony under the stars at beautiful Embarcadero Marina Park South!

Food, Drink & Fun Pre-Concert Entertainment Stage

Come early and take in the pre-concert entertainment!

What makes Bayside Summer Nights so special is the atmosphere…enjoy a glass of wine or your favorite micro-brew and a burger or salad, and listen to some of San Diego’s finest local musicians before the concert on the mainstage begins. The entertainment begins at 6:00 PM, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy visiting with friends and taking in the beauty of the Bay.

Food and Refreshment Plaza Bring your picnic or stop by the Food and Refreshment Plaza filled with lots of yummy choices from Behind the Scenes Catering. Menus are always available at sandiegosymphony.org

TABLE SERVICE Everyone who sits in the Champagne seating section receives table service before the concert begins up through intermission. As a courtesy to the artists performing on stage, there will be no table service after intermission for any concert.

Champagne Seating subscribers will receive a voucher for one complimentary glass of champagne at each subscription concert.
